“Al Jazeera’s Blogs” on 8 August 2016. This platform sought to pre- serve the authenticity of opinion-writing with a wide breadth of free writing about events, unattached to any political agenda. It also gave young writers a professional space to express their ideas within a di- verse framework as well as the rules and values of differences, sharing and exchange. “Midan”, launched on 17 January 2017, enhanced the digital poli- cies adapted by Al Jazeera in terms of the digital environment it provided to address the priorities and educational, social, political and economic interests of young people. Its motto was “Reality from the Perspec- tive of its Youth”, which reflects the website’s identity and direction. In 2019, the site launched a new news service, “Sanad”, which focuses on verifying the authenticity and accuracy of the news. This website’s unit produces news materials from social media sources, presents them to all of Al Jazeera’s channels and platforms, and performs accuracy checks based on internal requests from other departments in the network.
