Scaling the Mission With Purpose and Impact BEYOND THE SUMMIT

Reflections on the “29029” Everest Challenge, our community, and what comes next! I did it. Fifteen ascents. Thirty-six hours. 29,029 vertical feet — the height of Everest. While proudly standing at the awe-inspiring summit of Mont- Tremblant for the last trek, I realized something powerful: This climb wasn’t just mine. It was ours. Every step I took was fueled by your encouragement, your belief in the mission we are scaling together, and your commitment to something bigger than any one single person. The mountain may be behind me, but the momentum we are building together is just beginning. Beyond the Climb: Scaling What Matters Most That’s where we are now. We climbed for a purpose: to elevate opportunities for the kids at JaxPAL. And thanks to your generosity, we’ll be able to provide much-needed and very much-appreciated educational and recreational resources, ensuring a healthy balance of learning, play, and personal growth.

That means access to homework assistance and STEM enrichment, new sports equipment, furniture, and character-building programs that help kids thrive both in and out of the classroom. These aren’t just supplies -- they’re stepping stones. They’re tools for confidence, connection, and a brighter future. My team and I have had the privilege of visiting the Westside Center JaxPAL location often throughout the years and seeing firsthand the impact these programs have had and continue to have. The kids are curious, energetic, and full of potential. They’re eager to learn, play, and grow, and they deserve every chance to do so in a safe, supportive environment. Your support helps make that possible. Beyond the Summit: The Mission Now Rises I invite you to take this next step with me, not just as supporters, but as partners in purpose. Every act of giving, every ripple of generosity, helps to make an enriched future possible for these well-deserving kids. And when we give generously, we build something that lasts far beyond the summit. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished and even more excited about what’s ahead. The funds we raise will go directly toward expanding access, deepening impact, and creating lasting positive change for the youth we serve. And the spirit of this climb — the grit, the heart, and the community — will continue to guide us all in our everyday lives. Thank you for being part of this exhilarating journey. Whether you donated, cheered from afar, or simply believed in the mission, you helped lift this effort higher than I ever could have imagined. Let’s keep scaling. Let’s keep believing. Let’s turn the summit into a springboard, and together, with purpose and impact, let’s elevate what matters most: our kids, the next generation! With deep gratitude,

JAILBREAK FOR JUSTICE How a Senior Hound’s Escape Changed Dozens of Lives

When a 10-year-old basset hound fled from her neglectful home, she didn’t just rescue herself from abuse and poor conditions; she ended up saving more than 30 other animals from unimaginable suffering. Hero, as she’s since been named, was in bad shape when animal rescuers first discovered her. Emaciated and dirty, her overgrown nails had twisted, making it painful for her to walk. She had a painful bladder infection and heartworms. Despite the pain she was in, she made a daring escape, and her ID tag led animal control to a house of horrors. Officers found 36 other dogs, a chicken, and a cat at the location, suffering from various ailments and signs of abuse. Some animals lived in small, dirty cages; others had injuries and signs of malnutrition. All of them were dirty and had a medical issue of some kind. It was clear they needed help. The Humane Society of Concord took in 15 of the dogs, including Hero, and other local rescues housed the rest. When the sad story of these neglected dogs reached the community, people heard the call and donated funds to help cover their medical and care costs. If it had not been for Hero’s life-saving feat, there’s no telling what would have become of her furry friends. The shelter that named her

Hero even gave her a last name, Salvare, which means to save and protect. They described her as “a friendly girl with the softness of a sweet old lady” who deserved a quiet home as she recovered. Hero has since found her forever home and was adopted the next day after the shelter searched for a new owner. Thanks to the kind and persevering hound, many other dogs from the home have also been adopted. “Despite Hero’s sad backstory, she’s proof that dogs are resilient creatures that only show love that is unconditional,” the shelter wrote. Hero may have started as a victim, but she ended a chapter of abuse as a rescuer. Her quiet bravery saved her and transformed the lives of dozens of others, proving that even in the darkest places, hope can come on four legs and floppy ears.

We’re thrilled to announce that our “29029” Fundraiser is now live! This exciting time is a chance for us to rally together, show up big for Adam when he gets back from tackling his challenge at Mont-Tremblant in the province of Quebec, Canada, and make a meaningful impact for JaxPAL and the kids at the Westside Center. This year, the Westside Center has some exciting plans in store. They hope to use the funds we raise to purchase brand-new furniture and much-needed equipment to enhance their programs and make their space even more welcoming for the youth they serve. Last year, thanks to your generosity and dedication, we raised more than $5,500, and this year, we’re aiming to “scale” even higher! To support this wonderful cause, we’d love your help spreading the word. Every “share,” donation, and word of encouragement makes a difference. And that’s not all! We’ll celebrate our efforts and unveil the final total raised at our post-hike party this October. Trust us, you won’t want to miss it (details coming soon)! It’s going to be a fantastic chance to connect, reflect, and celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together. Let’s make this year’s “29029” fundraiser our biggest and best yet. Move Over, Paris

Bordeaux Is France’s Best-Kept Secret

When you hear about people taking trips to France, your mind likely conjures images of the Eiffel Tower, delicious high-end French cuisine, and a view of the “Mona Lisa” at the Louvre Museum. However, there’s much more to France than the scenic beauty and decadent flavors found along the streets of Paris. If you want to experience the best of France, you must spend time in Bordeaux. While we often refer to Napa Valley and Sonoma County in California as wine country, Bordeaux is the original wine region. Its history with wine dates back over 2,000 years, and you can still experience the area’s love of wine today. Le Bar à Vin and Le Bistro du Fromager are beautifulsly decorated wine bars that will leave you stunned, unlike anything you can experience stateside. And if you want to

take it up a notch, you can visit La Cité du Vin, Bordeaux’s interactive wine museum, and enjoy a glass under a chandelier made from a thousand bottles. Even if you’re not a wine drinker, there’s plenty to enjoy in Bordeaux. Those interested in fashion or shopping will love walking down Rue Sainte Catherine, Europe’s longest pedestrianized shopping street. If that’s too crowded for your liking, you can enjoy shopping in the historic Chartrons district. As you walk through the city, you’ll surely see towers that look straight out of a fairytale or Disney movie. If you’re visiting during the first Sunday of any month, you’ll get to hear the Grosse Cloche belfry ring its 250-year-old bell! For adventurers, just 37 miles southwest of Bordeaux is Dune du Pilat, Europe’s tallest sand dune, also famous for paragliding.

Now, it wouldn’t be a visit to France without taking in some art, and Bordeaux won’t leave you disappointed. The Musée des Beaux-Arts and the contemporary art museum CAPC are both worth a visit, and your trip won’t be complete until you stop by the awe-inspiring Monument aux Girondins, a free-flowing fountain over a beautiful bronze sculpture. If a European vacation is on your bucket list, consider visiting Bordeaux when you go. It might just be the highlight of your entire trip!
