TYPOGRAPHY TYPOGRAPHY TRACKING (LETTER SPACING)
Kerning adjusts the space between individual letter forms while tracking (letter-spacing) adjusts spacing uniformly over a range of characters. In a well-kerned font, the two-dimensional blank spaces between each pair of characters all have a visually similar area. Be mindful of letter spacing. Proper tracking helps the reader through the document and eases large gaps that can be distracting. Trade Gothic No. 18 Condensed and Trade Gothic No. 20 Condensed Bold are both best viewed at -20. Please adjust accordingly. The top example is set to 0 and the lower example is set to -20. Please go no tighter than -20. In large sizes, tracking may need to be adjusted.
