Le dimanche 7 septembre, le ciel était couvert tôt le matin, mais il s’est dégagé et le soleil a réchauffé l’atmosphère pendant le reste de la journée. Mme Putzel estime qu’entre 4 000 et 5 000 personnes, rési- EFOUTEFMBSÊHJPOFUWJTJUFVSTEFMFYUÊSJFVS ont déambulé dans Main Street, profitant de la variété des cuisines proposées par les vendeurs de nourriture, découvrant les produits frais et les kiosques d’ustensiles de cuisine spécialisés, et appréciant la musique live et les autres attractions. Lorsque le Festival des saveurs a été lancé, l’accent était mis sur la présentation d’une sélection internationale de cuisines dans les rues. Standing resolutely on a Plantagenet hilltop at the corner of Old Highway 17 and Du Comte (the fact that it is “old” #17 just seems to make things all the more resolute), Patati Patata and Bar Laitier will celebrate its 35th anniversary in spring 2026. The stand is closing soon, but you still have some perfect fall weather left to check it out in 2025, if you haven’t done so. More than a third of a century is a very long time for a food operation, so kudos to owner Chantal Lapensee and family for weathering the vagaries of the economy, pandemics, winter closures, evolving customer tastes and the general see-saw that is running any sort of business. Lapensee, a teacher and school principal by training, and her husband Alain Chartrand, a former Air Canada employee, bought the chip stand in 1991. For a variety of reasons, they sold the business a year later only to buy it back again after a period of time. “It’s my baby!” Lapensee says, of the family business. “It’s me and my husband and two daughters, also teachers, who work nights and weekends during the summer along with ten other employees.” The stand itself had been moved to a couple of different locations by a previous owner over the years, but the variety of goods on the menu – “this, that and the other” you might say to which the phrase “et patati et patata” alludes – has been a longstanding one too. Hot chicken and gravy and wireless pagers You file up the stairs – there are often cars lining the street and people queued to order at the window – pay for your food and take a small wireless pager that buzzes and lights up to inform you that your order is coming out the side door for you to pick up. I’ve been to several very busy casual upscale pubs where you are armed with a similar pager but not a chip stand. There’s some parking space and a few picnic tables with umbrellas on the property. On the menu, you’ll find hamburgers (inclu- ding one that mimicks The Big Mac), whistle dogs, chili dogs and pogos, in addition to a hot chicken sandwich. 5IJT JT OPU B /BTIWJMMFTUZMF CSFBEFE cayenne-spicy hot chicken sandwich made famous at joints like the OG venue Prince’s Hot Chicken (and one of the late Anthony Bourdain’s favourites) but rather something that seems like a U.S. lunch-counter deli throwback along with its hefty cousin the hot hamburg sandwich. It is creation that I, frankly, adore: chicken slices chopped and shredded onto a slice of humble white sandwich bread and bathed generously in hot gravy. However, in terms of its origin story, none other than David MacMillan and Frederic Morin of Montreal Joe Beef fame assert that it is in fact a part of Quebec cuisine. I will place my bet on that. Patati Patata’s version is prepared sans peas and tucks ample bits of shredded and sliced chicken, moist and tender, beneath the top slice of bread. The accompanying fries,

Le site du parc riverain prévu pour le projet, avec sa pente en forme de cuvette vers les rives de la rivière des Outaouais, nécessite un entrepreneur possédant les connaissances et les compétences particulières requises pour installer les pieux nécessaires à la construction dans une fondation en ciment. Le rapport de l’administration souligne que la partie en béton de la fondation du pavillon est « un élément clé » du projet, car l’objectif est que le bâtiment soit construit et achevé avant décembre de cette année. Le Lions Club de Lefaivre a collaboré avec la municipalité à divers projets d’amélioration du parc riverain. Le club a garanti 100 000 dollars pour couvrir les frais de construction du pavillon.
Un nouveau pavillon extérieur sera ajouté au parc communautaire riverain du village de Lefaivre. Le conseil municipal d’Alfred-Plantagenet a approuvé l’attribution du contrat de construc- tion à Charles Dicaire, de Luxus Timber Frames, et le Lions Club de Lefaivre finance le projet. Séance de consultation publique AVIS AUX CONTRIBUABLES DE LA MUNICIPALITÉ, AVIS EST PAR LA PRÉSENTE DONNÉ PAR LE SOUSSIGNÉ QUE : 1. Lors de la séance ordinaire du 9 septembre 2025, le conseil municipal a adopté le projet de règlement suivant : • Projet de règlement numéro 2025-08-902 modifiant le règlement de zonage RU-902-01- 2015 et ses amendements afin de modifier la grille des spécifications de la zone RT-04 afin d’autoriser les projets intégrés pour la classe d’usage H1 2. Ce projet de règlement contient des dispositions qui peuvent être soumises à l’approbation des personnes habiles à voter 3. Une assemblée publique de consultation sera tenue le 23 septembre 2025 à compter de 18h30, pour ce projet de règlement, à l’Hôtel de Ville, situé au 88, rue des Érables, à Grenville-sur-la- Rouge. Lors de cette assemblée publique, le projet de règlement ainsi que les conséquences de son adoption seront expliqués et les personnes et organismes qui souhaitent s’exprimer à ce sujet seront entendus. 4. Ce projet de règlement affecte la zone RT-04 (L’illustration de cette zone est jointe au présent avis). 5. Une copie de ce projet de règlement peut être consultée. Toute personne peut obtenir des informations à ce sujet en se présentant à l’Hôtel de Ville, au service du Greffe, durant les heures normales de bureau.
