J W Logistics is a privately owned, third-party company providing B2B, B2C, and parcel final mile along with middle-mile services to shippers. The logistics company supports a variety of business spheres, including retail and industrial suppliers. JW Logistics specializes in white-glove delivery and installation, dedicated warehousing, and other premium services including store replenishment originating from their network of facilities, as well as from customer warehouses and back of store.
Jim Wicker, founder and owner of JW Logistics, has been a leader and trailblazer in the final-mile delivery space for over 30 years. He expanded the company’s services from local courier and small parcel delivery to commercial freight services, serving Fortune 500 companies nationwide. Senior Vice President of Strategic Account Development Bill Barker has worked with Jim Wicker for many of those years, officially joining JW Logistics eight years ago. The company’s first year started with just a couple of clients. In their second year, they started providing a new service, tailored specifically to a large online retailer, and grew so rapidly over the next few years that they needed to diversify to avoid concentration. “JW Logistics rapidly expanded their footprint to be a national provider quickly while maintaining a small corporate structure that allows us to be nimble, pivot quickly, and provide customizable but scalable services to strategic shippers in the marketplace,” said Barker.
JW Logistics has been a St. John Properties tenant since 2015. Three years ago, the company expanded and relocated from Barringer Foreman Tech Park to its current facility at Pelican Point Commerce Center in Gonzales, Louisiana, which houses over a dozen JW Logistics customer and business partners staff. St. John Properties customized their space to accommodate JW Logistics’ customer needs. “St. John Properties consistently introduces new buildings strategically located with a highly valued layout with parking, dock doors, and small offices that allow JWL to support multiple final-mile applications to service as many customers as possible at the same time, under one roof,” explained Barker. The space includes several dock doors, allowing the company to meet its core service of final-mile delivery. “The more dock doors we have, the more flexible we can be with our customers to provide a variety of services and scalability,” said Barker. The building’s location right off a major highway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans allows JW Logistics and its customers to cover southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle quickly.
