Improv Asylum Program Summer 2025

Asylum comedy

Welcome to The Asylum!

For over 25 years, we’ve been Boston’s favorite spot for hilarious sketch comedy and lightning-fast audience-inspired improv. Wait. Has it really been that long?! And… right now we do ten or eleven shows a week. Just doing some quick math… that’s just over a bajillion shows. So, when one of our actors comes to you for a suggestion, try to think of something they’ve never heard before. They’ll love you for it. From all of our incredible actors, hard-working staff, and everyone who works here, thank you for joining us. We are thrilled to have you.

We couldn’t do this without you.

(Well, we could, but it would be kind of sad, weird and probably look a little perverse.)

LOVE THE SHOW? Buy the actors a drink!

Because Laughter Is Better Live! The Asylum Events team can help plan the perfect outing: office parties, tour groups, birthday celebrations, bachelorette or bachelor parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, quinceañeras, or if you just want to treat you and your squad to a truly hilarious private show! Looking for something semi-professional for work, or maybe something fun and funky? Take over any of our spaces for your private event or group outing, including: Improv Asylum Laugh Boston Lil Chuck

The Main Stage CAST Thursdays | 8:00pm Fridays | 7:00pm 9:30pm Saturdays | 5:00pm 7:00pm 9:30pm Each night our cast of six super-talented improv performers command the stage with sketches and improv sets created with the help of a rowdy audience. Guaranteed to produce a new show every time, audience participation creates the vibe that drives the action on stage, with unexpected and hilarious results. Looking for an all-improv PG-13 experience? Check out our 5pm show, Main Stage: Unscripted , for 70 minutes of never-to-be-seen-again comedy — completely inspired by audience suggestions!

SAM CARTY Sam is psyched to be a part of the Mainstage cast. She loves performing, writing, and making people laugh. Sam is a big proponent of having fun and telling herself (& her mom) to “trust the process.” Follow her on Instagram @samma_ carty and TikTok @sammacarty. Special thanks to her family & friends for all the love, support and laughs. ZACHARY BARKER Zachary Barker is thrilled to be joining the mainstage cast after a five year hiatus in LA spent stuck in the La Brea Tar Pits. He has over 10 years of experience performing improv and sketch comedy in Boston, New York and LA and spent the last 5 years writing music with his comedy band Tall Boy Special as well as releasing music under his own name, Zachary Barker. You can find both Tall Boy Special and Zachary Barker’s music on all streaming platforms, and you can check in on what he’s working on next by following him on Instagram @zachary_barker123

James Melloni James Melloni is an absolute unit with a heart of gold. After receiving a Groupon for Christmas from his Mom to take improv classes, the former animation script writer found his way to Improv Asylum. James teaches, writes, and performs eight shows each weekend with dreams of one day having a bit part on a CW television show. Nothing too big, maybe he owns a shop that the other more physically attractive main characters hang out at. You can follow him @jamesmelloni on most socials. Madison Gillis Madison grew up in a small farm town as one of six kids. Feeling the need for more attention, she hit the road for the mid-sized city of Boston (not before getting stuck in tractor traffic). She found herself at Improv Asylum and decided “that’ll do pig”. Madison’s excited to continue her run with the Main Stage cast, where she hopes to keep making people laugh. If they don’t, she will pack her bags and head back to the simple life.

Kellie Moon Kellie Moon is thrilled to get to perform on the Main Stage every weekend with such a fun, talented cast. She studied Theater Performance at Salem State University and has been creating comedy ever since. Other Improv Asylum credits include House Teams, Lit Night, Psyched Out, and the NXT Cast. You may also find Kellie teaching classes at the Training Center, or online as the “World’s Greatest Tour Guide.”

RHETT SOSEBEE As a child, Rhett dreamed of becoming a dolphin trainer—mostly because he hadn’t discovered improv yet. Now, he’s thrilled to be on the Main Stage cast at Improv Asylum. Originally from Alabama, Rhett moved to New England in 2016 and immediately began taking classes at IA. He is a graduate of IA’s Training Center and has performed on IA’s House Teams and NXT casts. Rhett thanks his family and friends for their unwavering support, and his dog Hughie for being perfect. You can follow him online @KidDolphin64, which was his original AIM screen name (the dolphin obsession was real).

MAIN STAGE CREATIVE TEAM

Charlie Berger TECH OPERATOR

Steve Sarro MUSIC DIRECTOR

Charlie Berger is a Comedian, Writer, and Director engaging with technical design to further his relationship with live comedy. Charlie received a BFA from Boston University in Theatre Arts Performance with concentrations in directing and playwriting. Charlie’s passions for playwriting and directing were cultivated in the new works festival at BU, where he developed new plays, concluding by directing in the Booth Theater, for which he earned the Milan Stitt New Works Award. Alongside tech, Charlie performs on Improv Asylum’s House Teams and is practicing Stand Up at local clubs.

Steve Sarro is Improv Asylum’s Music Director and can currently be seen behind the keys (and occasionally popping up onstage) in the Mainstage show every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has served as a piano accompanist and music director for improv and sketch comedy since 2013 and has toured with Colin Mochrie of Whose Line Is It Anyway. He is also an independent songwriter and recording artist. For more about him and his work follow @infinitesarros on Instagram and YouTube!

Kelly Dooley DIRECTOR

Kelly has worked at Improv Asylum since 2008. During her time, she has performed on House Teams, the NXT, and was a member of the Main Stage cast. After a long run on the Main Stage, she has made the jump to Artistic Director where she hopes to create the high quality Improv Asylum style shows that our audiences know and love.

She loves this weird basement and can’t get enough of it! Hope you all enjoy the show!

The NXT CAST Every Wednesday & Sunday

The freshest faces in Boston comedy bring you their sketch and improv revue that is sure to be your new favorite way to close out the weekend or get through hump day. Maybe Both. No judgement. You do you.

SARAH DUBLIN Sarah Dublin is so excited to be a part of the Improv Asylum team. She knew she needed an outlet when she couldn’t stop telling jokes at work. She started taking classes and hasn’t looked back since! Other comedy adventures include performing with Hen House, Fruit Basket, House Teams, and After School Snacks. During the day, you can find her dealing out empathy and healing as a social worker. Talia Fraine Talia is pumped to make her NXT debut. She’s previously appeared in Hen House, ’Twas, and House Teams, and in shows like Galentine’s Day, and Lit Night—where she delivered a critically misunderstood reimagining of the bathroom dance scene from Joker (2019). She likes to make people cry, but also firmly believes nothing beats a fart noise into a microphone. Balance, right? When not performing, Talia can be found cuddling her daughter Novie the cat or digging in dirt. Otherwise, she’s tangled in headphone wires, running the Freedom Trail upstream— against maximum tourist traffic— pursued by the ghost of herself.

ADDY GOVER Addy is thrilled to join the cast of NXT. Addy first started doing improv in the Fall of ‘21 when they googled “Boston standup” and the top search result was an improv class. Addy has performed on casts at Kismet Improv, ImprovBoston, and The Nova Comedy Collective. If you’d like to see more of Addy, you can follow @wyrdentertainment on instagram where they advertise their fully improvised musical and meetups for the queer community. Dan Karlin Dan is honored to be a part of the NXT cast. He has been with Improv Asylum since 2017, doing any job they’d let him. He’s been a part of House Teams, Modern Exhibits: A Sketch Comedy Podcast, Lit Night, Spit Take Comedy, and dozens of other projects he’ll eventually get around to.

Henry Loveland Henry is a comedian and writer from Kansas City, Kansas. He will correct you if you say he’s from Missouri (see tech guy’s bio). In 2021, Henry moved to Boston and began ushering and taking classes at Improv Asylum. He began teaching improv and performing for the NXT cast in 2023. This is Henry’s second year as an NXT cast member and promises he’ll do better this time. He wants to thank his family and friends for their unwavering support and love. Follow @henry_is_tired on Instagram. Rosemary West Rosemary is from Dunstable, MA where there are as many cows as there are people. Rosemary was originally a visual artist and moved to Boston to pursue a degree at MASSART. There, she discovered a love for performance art. After a few acting classes, and some student film projects, she dropped out of school and began to pursue performance. Rosemary is over the moon to be on the NXT cast. Lots of love and thanks to her family and amazing friends who have supported her along the way.

Brittany Coscio MUSIC DIRECTOR Brittany spent fifteen years of classical piano training being told exactly which notes to play — now she’s glad to be making them up instead. She first signed up for Improv Asylum classes on a whim, half-expecting it to be another hobby-of-the-month, but it quickly became a passion that stuck. She’s grateful to have found a way to marry two of her favorite things: music and comedy, and loves supporting scenes through music, where the right notes always seem to come faster than the right words. NXT CREATIVE TEAM

Jed Rellihan TECH OPERATOR

Jedidiah (Jed) Rellihan grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and will correct you if you say Kansas. He studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he earned degrees in both Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting. After college, he set his sights for the East Coast to Make it Big in the Big City… …only to end up in Boston operating a tech booth at a comedy theater underneath a CVS - something for which he never knew he had such love and passion. He’s honored to perform with all the great artists at the Improv Asylum, many of whom he’s proud to call friends.

Boston’s Best Stand- Period Hold up. You realize we’re saying “Period” as in, “Case Closed,” Not “period” as in the punctuation mark. Either way, some of the funniest nationally touring headliners come through Laugh Bost of Boston’s best. But none of it matters if we don’t figure out this punctuation stuff. So, hit us up on the DMs at Improv Asylum and or Laugh Boston and let us know if you knew what we meant. Or if you just wanted to say “Hey, Tyler” -- it’s the same guy working both accounts. No requests for feet pics, plz.
