Use these tips to prevent and identify cold-related illness and to stay warm in chilly temperatures. Protect Your Skin The cold outside air and furnace- heated inside air work in tandem to dry out your skin and chap your lips. Use moisturizing soaps to avoid parched skin and rub unscented lotion on your hands and elbows to keep them from becoming cracked.
