Name Change Proposal Estimated Cost Breakdown

Date:

July 12, 2021

Background The subject of the name, specifically the acronym, of our Association has been a subject of question due to the close proximity it runs to a racial slur towards the Black community. This has been brought to the attention of staff and some members of the board numerous times throughout the years and was recently brought to the full board for consideration on taking action to modify our name. On September 25, 2020, Midwest Delegate, Brandon Stevens, submitted a memo to the Executive Board, requesting time on the October 2, 2020 board meeting agenda to discuss the possibilities of an organizational name change to address these concerns. The discussion was voted to be tabled until the Annual Board Meeting at our 2021 Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention. Pacific Alternate Delegate Rosemary Morillo requested a cost breakdown of this process for the board to review at the Annual Board Meeting on July 19, 2021. Our staff has identified all possible costs associated with an immediate change would total and provided a breakdown on the next page of this memo. These costs are estimated and can vary dependent factors such as timing of the project start, transition to digital assets, and whether the board would like to continue with a complete overhaul of the organization’s branding to update our outward-facing appearance. Purposed Plan for Execution Staff has identified 3 major areas in which a name change would impact the organization: 1) All outward-facing digital materials 2) All outward-facing printed materials 3) Internal documents for staff, contractors, vendors, etc. This process would take place in 3 phases as a result, prioritized by necessity of completion in time for this to be successfully executed by our Mid-Year Tradeshow & Convention:

1) Phase 1: Social Media/Digital Assets & In-House Materials 2) Phase 2: Travel Materials Needed to Exhibit at Other Events 3) Phase 3: Internal Documents & Legal/Government Filings
