Example 3 Classifying Systems with Infinitely Many or No Solution

Recall that systems of linear equations that do not have one solution will have infinitely many solutions or no solution. When the result of algebraically solving a system of equations is an identity, such as 8 = 8, the system has infinitely many solutions. When the result of algebraically solving a system of equations is a contradiction, such as 8 = 7, the system has no solution.
