A Hot Time at “The Grounds”
speed things along. Thursday evening last year’s Spotlight Builder, Metal Brothers Hot Rods, hosted an open house and Kick-Off party for early arrivals and this year’s Spotlight Builder, Nobody Customs & Restorations from Lafayette, Louisiana, prepared to meet the participants and spectators for their time in the spotlight this year. Everything from a Swap Meet and Women’s World to Safety Inspections and Streets of Rods were being held while other awards were being picked leading up to Saturday evening. Kay Staggs hosted a Ladies Tea for 96 ladies with generous support from Sanderson Headers, Andrew Myers State Farm and the Michelle/Meador Families. The Southern Brushslingers raised over $6,250 for the Abba Shrine for Children in Mobile. Ed and Michelle Chopin coordinated the Games and a Coloring Contest and Kay Staggs put together a Quilt Display. Saturday evening did come fast, but as you can see from our coverage the quality and variety of vehicles that showed up and the list of activities made for a great time. The “Martini Shakers” sponsored by Transmission Magicians livened things up at the Awards Program and, just like a three-day event, Super Prizes were given out and three lucky rodders won $2,000 each in the $weep$take$ Giveaway. With all this action packed into two days there’s every indication this event may thrive in cooler temps. Stay tuned for the 2026 NSRA Event Schedule for next year’s dates in April. SEPTEMBER 2025 37
