IS DRAFTING MY WILL GOOD ENOUGH?

Many people think that by drafting their will and doing up their CPF nomination, they will have a peace of mind. However, this is a common misconception. There are, in fact, three different types of Will you should plan for, in order to take control of your affairs and protect your loved ones.

Three Types Of Will are Living Will, Financial Will and Emotional Will

At The Life Legacy, we provide all three types of will. Read on to find out the difference between these three.

Living Will

WHAT IF YOU lose your mental capacity? are critically sick? are unconsicous and diagnosed with terminal illness? Who shall make decisions for you? H ow would you like to be cared for? Who do you entrust with your personal welfare and financial affairs?

ADVANCE CARE PLANNING (ACP) Process of planning for future health and personal care. It includes discussing your personal beliefs and your goals for care with your loved ones and healthcare providers. Why this helps: ACP allows you to start conversation with your loved ones for your future health and personal care in the event of difficult medical situations.

ADVANCE MEDICAL DIRECTIVE (AMD) A legal "living medical will" - signed in advance by you to inform the doctors that you do not want life-sustaining treatment to prolong your life, should you become terminally ill and unconscious and where death is imminent. Why this helps: The AMD overrules even your family's objection - should they have any due to their emotional state - to your refusal of life-sustaining treatment situations.

LASTING POWER OF ATTORNEY (LPA) A legal document that lets you appoint one or more person to make decisions and act on your behalf, should you lose your mental capacity one day. It allows you to plan ahead and make an informed and preferred choice of a trusted proxy decision maker to act in your best interest. Why this helps: It safeguards your future interests and allows the right person to act on your behalf.

Financial Will

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PASSED ON? Who will inherit my assets? How will the distribution of my assets be? Who will be the guardians for my children? How will my farewell be?

FUNERAL PRE-PLANNING By preplanning, you allow your family members to have a complete peace of mind that they will be preparing your farewell based on what you want. By preplanning today, you can lock your farewell based on today's price. Why this helps: When you prepare for your final farewell, it can relieve undue stress brought on by your death as well as avoid unnecessary deputes between family members.

WILL Will is a legal document that gives specific instruction for your distribution of your assets. You decide who your executors and guardians to your children will be. If you do not have a will, the court will direct the distribution of your assets according to the Intestate Succession Act (Chapter 146) Why this helps: Drawing up a will does not have to be expensive. It is more important for you to decide for yourself than let the court decide for you.

TRUST Trusts is used in conjunction with your will. It allows you to have more control with the distribution of your assets and secure the future of your loved ones. It is a powerful instrument to meet your objectives even after you have long passed on. We can help you understand if you need a trust and how you can set it up at an affordable price. Why this helps: You can protect your assets and vulnerable beneficiaries from undue influence and prevent squandering of wealth.

Emotional Will

WHAT ARE YOUR MESSAGES? How do you like to be remembered? How can you let them feel your presence even after you are long gone? What are the virtues you wish to impart to your loved ones?

Emotional Will WRITE EMAILS . WRITE LETTERS . UPLOAD A PHOTO , RECORD A VIDEO OR CREATE A VOICE MESSAGE AND GIFTS FOR YOUR LOVED ONES ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS. SCHEDULED THEM TO BE PLAYED ON YOUR LIFE'S GRADUATION CEREMONY. OR SENT TO YOUR LOVED ONES WHENEVER YOU WANT EVEN AFTER YOU PASSED ON.
