MAKE EVERY DAY IN 2021 COUNT How Daily Resolutions and New Habits Can Transform Your Life
Merry Christmas, everyone. It’s been a heck of a year, hasn’t it? Maybe you can let me know from the future if it gets any better! At the time of writing this, election week is behind us, and it seems like 2020 couldn’t get any crazier. But that’s not what I am writing about this month. I actually started thinking about a different, simple question: What makes a “good” year, anyway? Is a good year defined by the accomplishments we’ve achieved, the knowledge we’ve learned, or the people we’ve met? Or, can it be defined by new personal strides, like an increased ability to forgive or be thankful? It depends, perhaps, on our long-term goals and aspirations for ourselves. But whether you feel like you’ve had an amazing year or it left far more to be desired, making the most out of your 2021 will depend on your definition of a good year. One of the biggest takeaways from 2020 is that we shouldn’t take the current moment for granted! Our time on Earth is fleeting. We owe it to ourselves to live our best lives. That’s when daily resolutions and new healthy habits can really help us out. Sometimes, living our best life means being spontaneous and doing new things to break out of the routine. But other times, it means making regular healthy choices every single day, so you can live a happier, more comfortable tomorrow. B.J. Fogg, the founder and director of the Behavior Design Lab at Stanford and author of “Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything,” has wonderful insights
Consider the problems that occur when we don’t feel right about our lives and aren’t forming healthy habits: overeating, undereating, stress, anxiety, and even anger and depression. Having a daily practice of meditation, cooking, writing, or even something as light as a daily walk could help you feel increased optimism for the future, according to dozens of studies. It’s challenging to form new habits, but it doesn’t take much to get started, even if you walk in one circle around the block or perform a 1-minute meditation. Planning new habits isn’t the only way we can make the most of the moment, of course. It’s Christmas! This is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Don’t forget to smell the pines and enjoy your holidays as much as possible. From everyone at Sevenish Law Firm, we wish you a joyous Christmas and a happy New Year’s.
“ Doing tiny, positive actions today won’t evaporate. Your daily efforts, no matter how
on this very topic. He shares, “In order to design successful habits and change your behaviors, you should do three things: Stop judging yourself. Take your aspirations and break them down into tiny behaviors. Embrace mistakes as discoveries and use them to move forward.” Doing tiny, positive actions today won’t evaporate. Your daily efforts, no matter how small, will gain more and more value as you continue doing them. And when you make mistakes, “discover” them for all their faults so you can learn how to overcome them. small, will gain more and more value as you continue doing them. ”

Can a new habit, even a small one, really transform your life? Absolutely.

3 TRICKS YOUR INSURANCE CLAIM ADJUSTER USES TO APPEAR LIKE YOUR ‘FRIEND’
MEET KISMET, A DENTIST’S TOOTHLESS THERAPY DOG Therapy pets can have a powerful impact on dental patients, especially if those patients have anxiety. “The studies are very clear: People who sit and pet animals have lower blood pressure, and that’s what it's all about,” Dr. Cameron Garrett told TODAY when the world found out about Kismet. Garrett’s dental practice employs the adorable 13-year-old Chihuahua rescue as a therapy animal that patients can hold and pet while they get dental work done. Kismet’s life has not been easy. The Muttville Senior Dog Rescue has invested thousands of dollars into Kismet’s health — they diagnosed her with heart disease, removed a cancerous tumor, treated a hernia, and removed all of her teeth due to periodontal disease. Yet, Kismet remains a very sweet dog. She never barks and loves back scratches and being held. It’s especially amazing that the toothless Kismet found such a perfect new home with dental professionals! This past July, Cameron Garrett and his wife, Debra Garrett (a hygienist), adopted Kismet into their home as well as their dental practice. The serene dog has provided a special experience for patients who come for exams, cleanings, and even root canals. Of course, some patients are scared of dogs. In those cases, Kismet relaxes behind a closed gate. But over 98% of patients happily take Kismet on their laps while they undergo their dental procedure. Cameron Garrett told CNN, “Quite honestly, as a dentist, I’m as much a psychiatrist or psychologist as anything else. Kismet has allowed us to have another tool in our toolbox.” They can even use the toothless pup’s story to teach patients about the effects of periodontal disease. Getting love from patients also helps Kismet. “She just wants to be with us,” Debra Garrett explained. The new owners suspect that she was abused in the past and is still recovering from that trauma. “When she is on a patient’s lap, she’s providing them comfort, but she’s also getting comfort. It’s hard for me to describe how nice it is for me to be looking at her while I’m working. It’s just a win-win all the way around.”
Insurance companies aren’t your friend.
Your claim adjuster is hired to adjust your claim to the lowest possible number. Talking to the adjuster directly, no matter how friendly they may seem, can be a tragic mistake. Here are three red flags so you won’t fall victim to these tricks. 1. THEY’LL TRY TO GET YOU TO SETTLE RIGHT AWAY. After an accident, your adjuster will seem friendly by wanting to put money into your hands immediately. Wow , you might think. I have the best insurance ever. This is a common ploy to make you think just that. We have experienced countless examples of well-intending motorcycle crash victims who have settled with the wrongdoer’s insurance company prematurely. In some cases, the full extent of their injuries and damages were not yet quantified. Once settled, your claim cannot be adjusted. In other instances, people fail to gain permission from their own insurance company and are precluded from filing a UIM (underinsured motorist) claim with their own company. 2. WHILE CONSOLING YOU, ADJUSTERS TALK ABOUT COMPLEX ISSUES THAT YOU WON’T COMPLETELY FOLLOW. Using big words is one of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to misleading people. To be fair, injury law can be very complex, especially when it comes to paying back your health insurance. Medicare, Medicaid, and other liens are all required to be paid back by law. Your lawyer will know how to negotiate these liens downs and will also identify all coverage types that may apply, which could include UIM (underinsured motorists), umbrella policies, and more. 3. THEY’LL SAY YOU WON’T NEED A LAWYER. You might hear your adjuster imply that you don’t want to deal with lawyers, and they might try to intimidate you with potential costs. What they don’t say is that it could cost you far, far more in health bills and, depending on the severity of the accident, time away from work or unemployment. Hire an honest legal team that charges “contingency” fees, as we do at Sevenish Law. Using this kind of fee, you pay absolutely nothing at the beginning of your case, and a percentage of your claim is agreed upon beforehand, so you’re never surprised by attorney fees later on. It’s important to have an experienced motorcycle injury lawyer to level the playing field and speak the same language as the adjuster. Getting the legal defender that you deserve is completely affordable and can save you thousands.
Our hearts are officially melted. It’s only fitting for a pet hero to have heroic owners, too!

BRING THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS HOME Watch ‘ The Chosen ’
The response was stunning. “The Chosen” became the highest- paid crowdfunded TV show of all time, reaching over $10 million for its first season. Part of the success was Jenkins’ transparency; every contribution was an investment regulated by the SEC, not a donation. You don’t have to pay to watch the show, either. It’s available to stream completely free on iOS, Android, or your computer. Many of the actors are also people of color, which was an intentional choice by Jenkins. “We’re not trying to get big stars ... this is a show that’s set in the Middle East, and we want to accurately reflect that,” Jenkins said. “Also, the area where we set the show, Capernaum, was a trade route. And so there were many different ethnicities and countries reflected … I think that on the spiritual level, I think it’s a great opportunity to showcase all the barriers that Jesus broke down.” Jenkins has done a breathtaking job. Not only is the show beautifully shot with amazing set designs, but you’ll also be awed by the delicate way Jesus is portrayed. Jenkins relayed to the Chicago Sun-Times, “Telling the story of Jesus requires a lot of attention to detail and consideration of the audience because he’s the most important figure in history for billions of people … And we also believe that the audience trusts us more, knowing that the content is in our hands and that we’re not influenced or inspired by anyone else.” If you’d like to put a little more Jesus into your Christmas celebration, there are few better ways to capture your family — young and old — than by watching “The Chosen.” Download the app and stream it today! We hope you give it a shot!
Jesus used to tell jokes, laugh, and dance with his friends. In many Biblical projects that display an image or personification of Jesus, that side of him isn’t always visible.
However, this is the side of Him you will see in “The Chosen,” a multi-season TV show about the life of Christ.
With an incredible 4.98 Rotten Tomatoes audience rating, director Dallas Jenkins never expected to direct “The Chosen” at such a large scale after his previous box office flop, “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone.” The show “The Chosen” is based on a short film that Jenkins made as a favor for a church friend. After his friend saw it, he recommended that Jenkins post it online to start crowdfunding for a whole series.

With These 3 Hot Winter Drinks
Homemade chai tea is another delicious option that will wow you and your guests this winter. There are thousands of chai recipes out there, but MinimalistBaker.com offers a simple and tasty one that’s made with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, black tea, pepper, and dairy-free milk. If you don’t want to grind the spices yourself, you can buy a premade blend. Chai gives you all of the ginger benefits with the added bonus of cardamom, which is said to have antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Last but not least, if you’re more of a latte drinker than a tea drinker, try golden milk ! This soothing drink is a darling of health food fanatics because it features honey (a disease-fighting powerhouse ingredient) and turmeric (an immune-booster that lowers cholesterol, combats arthritis, and helps prevent cancer). WellPlated.com offers a delicious recipe that pairs those two ingredients with almond milk, almond butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and ginger for a satisfying nightcap.
What do Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Taylor Swift, and Khloé Kardashian have in common? Yes, they’re all high-profile celebrities, of course, but they’re also big fans of hot tea. According to the entertainment website Yaay, Angelina Jolie likes to make her own garlic tea by steeping fresh cloves in hot water, and Lady Gaga is such a big tea lover that she takes a tea set with her on tour. These famous women might be onto a health and beauty secret because aside from being delicious, tea is a great way to boost your immune system and fend off illnesses. Drinking hot tea, or another immune-boosting drink in place of hot chocolate, will still give you the cozy winter vibes you crave without compromising your health. An easy drink for beginners is lemon-ginger tea , which is a spin-off of Khloé Kardashian’s favorite drink. Ginger is a key ingredient here because it’s anti-inflammatory, raises the immune system, and may even help fight cancer. You can make lemon-ginger syrup by layering lemon slices, fresh ginger, and raw honey in a jar and letting it sit in the fridge overnight. The next morning, just add a few spoonfuls of the concoction to your hot water and you’ll have instant tea!
What are you waiting for — get steeping!
