Mission Shrimpossible: Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. serves more than just great seafood. It’s about serving its community too Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. may be known for its delicious seafood and fun atmosphere, but behind the endless preparations of shrimp and Forrest Gump memorabilia, serving its local communities through volunteer work is what’s on the menu. Since opening its first location in Monterey in 1996, Bubba Gump has organized hundreds of community initiatives across the country through Shrimpossibles – a grassroots organization that expands to every Bubba Gump location nationwide. Focused on being good neighbors and making a positive impact on the world, efforts have included volunteering time and services to fight hunger, combat illiteracy, and support the Special Olympics through charity walks like Run Forrest Run 5Ks; as well as organizing and assembling supply drives and care packages for soldiers overseas. As a company, the Shrimpossibles participated in more than Shrimpossibles’ philanthropic efforts shift to making an impact on students and their families. The volunteer team collects and donates about 1,500 backpacks to local schools every year, and participates in The Crayon Initiative year-round. Through The Crayon Initiative, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is able to remanufacture its used and unwanted restaurant crayons that 300 volunteer events in 2018 alone. During Back-to-School season, the

Bubba Gump joined The Crayon Initiative in February 2016 after a server at its Mall of America location pitched the idea to management. Bubba Gump is expected to divert nearly 1 million crayons from going to landfills by the end of 2019. With each new staff member and new opportunities of service, Bubba Gump gets one step closer to fulfilling its hope of building a tradition of service throughout Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. locations worldwide.
