The flaking process largely determines these characteristics. Changes, such as wear or the setting of knives in the flaking unit (knife ring flaker), directly affect particle shape – and thus the quality of the finished board. GreCon PARTICLEVIEW 2D continuously monitors particle geometry directly in the production line. The system automatically measures the length and width of the particles using advanced image processing. Continuous data collection provides an extensive and, thus, representative sample – much more informative than traditional methods such as sieve analysis or manual measurement. Monitoring particle quality development in real-time provides a reliable basis for process optimisation, resource savings, and consistently high product quality. Clear advantages over conventional methods Unlike conventional methods such as sieve analysis or manual measurement, GreCon PARTICLEVIEW 2D offers continuous and automated detection of particle geometry – directly in the production process. While sieving analysis typically captures only one particle dimension, and results vary depending on the sieving duration, PARTICLEVIEW 2D simultaneously measures the length and width of each particle without contact or interruption. Manual particle measurement is time-consuming, prone to subjective influence, and based on tiny samples. In contrast, PARTICLEVIEW 2D provides a comprehensive, reproducible picture of particle distribution – offering greater transparency, more control, and better decisions during production.
