TIPS COPILOT: REVOLUTIONIZING MILL OPERATIONS WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into ERP and MES systems is transforming business operations at pulp, paper, board, tissue and packaging mills. Tietoevry's TIPS uses AI to provide deep insights into each customer's unique configuration, support workflows with built-in intelligence, and even autonomously take over selected tasks. TIPS Copilot: knows about the individual configuration TIPS Copilot is an AI system that knows everything about the standard TIPS solution (Manufacturing Execution System) and also holds specific knowledge about the individual customer installation. TIPS Copilot provides access to all details of your operating environment for a tailored approach. The real differentiator for TIPS Copilot is its real-time access to all TIPS data. This capability enables you to gain real-time insights into your data, perform analyses, and visualize the results graphically — all through natural, local language. Tietoevry constantly updates the knowledge base to ensure AI remains relevant. Experts upload material in a manner the AI understands, enabling seamless communication and optimal performance. Additionally, AI can be trained for specific environments, providing personalized service. AI is only as good as the information it has access to. In most organizations, however, a significant amount of expert knowledge exists only in the heads of individuals. Asking these experts to document their know-how often proves ineffective. At PPF, we have had very promising experiences by conducting interviews with experts, transcribing their insights, and—supported by AI—transforming this input into AI-usable content. AI One-Touch: simplifying user interaction AI One-Touch is a feature that powers up TIPS with AI capabilities, requiring minimal user interference. For example, if a customer complaint arises, AI One-Touch collects relevant information and drafts a response without user input. This feature also writes reports and offers various assistance throughout the day, reducing users' workload. The simplicity of AI One-Touch is its greatest asset. Users simply hit a button, and AI knows what to do. This level of automation is unmatched in other ERP systems. AI One-Touch enhances productivity and ensures timely responses to customer inquiries and operational tasks. Agentic Work: the virtual user Agentic Work, a term coined by Microsoft, represents a new era in AI where agents perform tasks on behalf of users. In TIPS, agentic work is embodied by AI that acts like a TIPS user, executing tasks and making decisions autonomously. This concept bridges the gap between AI and reality. Agents in TIPS manage deckle optimization plans with varying parameters, such as maximizing throughput or minimizing waste. TIPS AI agents can be instructed through natural language. For example, if the system is told to "minimize waste", it will handle all the necessary following configuration details without further human input.
