This reduction was primarily due to the inclusion of avoided emissions from the production and transportation of natural gas to the mill, which increased the total emissions avoided
under the same NPV. The change in CAC is particularly important for the membrane alternatives, given the important savings achieved in natural gas (Fig. 5(b)).
