ASPIRATION

The quality to which we aspire will be achieved with appropriate material support. Resources may not lead to quality, but quality always leads to resources. Quality first. The state’s contribution to the funding of higher education has generally declined over the past 40 years. It is naïve to expect a change in that trend soon; although, if the decrease does not level-off by the time WT reaches its 125th birthday, WT will have become a private university. Therefore, in the next 15 years, we are determined to engage in two major fund-raising campaigns. The initial campaign will be focused on the people of WT—the faculty, staff and students. Its efforts will be directed to increase the quality and effectiveness of the people who make WT successful.

INNOVATION

There are several disruptive forces challenging regional educational institutions like WT that require thoughtful reflection, a deep commitment to change and the ability to adapt to new environments. A paradigm shift is warranted to employ new business models and a new governing structure.
