Ward 11 Update from City Hall by Skylar Franke, Ward 11 London City Council 519-661-2489, extension 4011 • sfranke@london.ca Hello Wortley Residents, Spring has sprung! I’m loving the feeling of sunshine on my face, hearing the birds singing and getting outside for longer walks. I’m trying to teach my toddler how to identify the birds of the Coves and he’s mastered the robin and cardinal so far. How are you getting outside to enjoy spring? Join the Ward 11 Youth Team I’m inviting any youth (ages 12 – 29) who are interested in local government and community action to apply to the new Ward 11 Youth Team! Engage on civic issues, meet other like-minded individuals, complete volunteer hours and make the community a better place. London’s Tariff Response London Mayor Josh Morgan announced in March the creation of an economic task force, the latest in a series of new measures aimed at protecting local jobs and strengthening London’s economy in the wake of tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, the London Economic Development Corporation also unveiled additional online resources, including the launch of makeinlondon.ca. The new website provides a directory of over 2,000 area businesses, helping users quickly and easily source local providers for everything from “pylons to pizza.” In addition, the LEDC has compiled a list of financing and advisory supports for businesses through financial Crown corporations, and existing supports for affected workers www.ledc.com/ tariff-support-london-businesses.
