Q: What are you passionate about? A: My passions are to be respectful, have good manners and, above all, be truthful. Although I have received many awards for my military service, the most rewarding thing for me was seeing young civilian women come into recruit training not sure of themselves and leave13 weeks later as young Marines secure in who they were with my help in training them. Q: What are the principles you live by? A: I try to live by always being true to myself and in helping others when I can do so. The most important things I have learned from my military service are discipline, determination and confidence in myself in everything I do. Q: What does Veterans Day, observed on Nov. 11, mean to you? To me, Veterans Day means that everyone who served is recognized by their fellow Americans, even though most women veterans are overlooked. When people say veterans, they mostly think of the men and not our women.
