The 38th Annual St. Thomas Optimist Santa Claus Parade Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus right down Talbot St. That’s right; the St. Thomas Optimist Santa Claus Parade, now in its 38th year, is gearing up for another magical night of festivities. This year’s theme is ‘Christmas at the Circus,’ promising a unique twist on traditional holiday fun. Parade chair, Al Holt, shares some exciting details about the event, which takes place on Saturday, November 23rd, starting at 6:00 pm: “The parade begins at the corner of First Avenue and Talbot Street and runs west on Talbot to Elgin Street.” The parade lasts approximately 45 minutes, during which spectators can expect a dazzling display of well-lit floats, some reaching over 200 feet in length. “There will be dance troupes with over 100 dancers, and we have three marching bands,” Al adds. Among the highlights is the return of the award-winning Burlington Teen Tour Band, alongside performances from the St. Thomas Police Service Pipes and Drums and the UWO Marching Band. The parade marks the official start of the Christmas season in St. Thomas, bringing the community together for a night of joy and excitement. “If you’ve never been to a night parade, you’ll find it to be quite enjoyable,” Al notes. “All the floats with their lights and music are much more spectacular against the night sky.” As in past years, the St. Thomas Firefighters will be collecting donations of non-perishable foods and cash for the St. Thomas
Elgin Food Bank. The St. Thomas Postal Workers will also be on hand to collect letters from the children to Santa. With such an impressive lineup, this year’s parade is set to bring the holiday spirit to life in a truly magical way.
