Casinos must collect and maintain supporting documentation for SARs SARs must be filed with FinCEN at a central location no later than 30 days after the initial date of detection. A casino is not required to file a SAR for robbery or attempted/committed burglary that is reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities. A casino should maintain a copy of any SAR filed and any record of the event for 5 years from the date of filing. SARs are confidential
