What is human trafficking?
Human Trafficking is essentially stealing freedom for profit u Human trafficking is the modern form of slavery, for forced labor or sexual exploitation. u Trafficking is officially defined as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons by means of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, or abuse of power of a position of vulnerability for the purpose of exploitation. u Anyone under the age of 18 who is induced to perform a commercial sex act is a victim of sex trafficking, and does not have to have been forced or coerced. u How many are Trafficked? Estimated ranges are between 12.1 Million to 40 Million u Human sex trafficking is the fastest-growing business of organized crime and the third-largest criminal enterprise in the world u United Nations estimates for every one (1) sexually trafficked victim, eight (8) labor slaves exist

Our mindset
u EDUCATE: We must educate ourselves on Human Trafficking, and ask for assistance from experts in the field. u TRAIN: Train our leadership, line staff, and community. u CHANGE OUR MINDSET: We must change our mindset and the way we think about Human Trafficking, and not just think of someone as a prostitute. u VICTIMS: Those that are being trafficked are victims. One more time, THOSE BEING TRAFFICKED ARE VICTIMS. u TRULY SEE: This topic has been taboo for some time, and we must move beyond that to truly see what is happening before us. We must learn to truly see, and have situational awareness around us. u ACT: We must act within the confines of our morality, humanity, to take the approved and appropriate action that is safe for yourself, those around you, and for those who are being trafficked. u Unapproved action , or action outside of policy or protocols can be dangerous for you, your patrons, staff, and especially for those being trafficked and possibly dangerous for their loved ones. u Plugged in and disassociation: We are so plugged into our phones, our inner circles, and our own life that we miss what is happening in front of us. 2
