Lloyd Monteith – Folk Artist by Beth Moyer
Lloyd Monteith, a farmer in the Southold area, has a passion for painting and all things from the past. Over the years his art has mainly depicted historical scenes and rural life. Monteith’s art gallery is situated on his farm and has literally become a museum – a museum that offers a pictorial preservation of farm life that was the identity of our Middlesex countryside. With a great inventory of art, Lloyd set out to create a space that would house his work. A silo- shaped building was erected in 2023 and is now completely filled, from top to bottom, with many colourful pieces of art. Images of fields, livestock, historical local buildings as well as family and neighbours are all on display.
