It is unfortunate that certain areas of the Word of Cod sometimes have been overlooked in a con­ sistent and constant study. To a degree, this has been true with the one-chapter book of Jude. Jude is the last epistle of the Bible. Very practically, it is applicable to the events of the last days. We cannot help but believe that we are living in this era right now, based upon the many and varied Biblical signs. What a tremendous preface Jude is to the book of Rev­ elation. Paul, in writing to Timothy, declared, "This know also that in the last days, perilous times shall come" (II Timothy 3:1). He then lists the 19 moral indications which provide an extremely valuable study in themselves, all revealing Page 32

the nearness of Christ's return. Then, in addressing the Church at Thessalonica, he cautions them, "That day shall not come, except there come a falling away first" (II Thessalonians 2:3). The words "falling away" in the original mean, "apostasy." Today, there is anarchy in the world, apostasy in the pro­ fessing church, and apathy among believers. THE BROTHER OF JAMES The author begins with the def­ inition, "Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them who are sanctified by Cod the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called" (vs. 1).
