by saying, "Ye are of your father the devil." We see by this verse that they have turned the grace of God into license. God's grace is His unmer ited favor bestowed upon us. We look upon it as favor granted when judgment is merited. There are those who say that God is too kind to ever send anyone to hell. We cannot look at Him as having any characteristics of wrath. But, God is a perfectly balanced being “and the abhorrence that He has for sin can never be overlooked, mini mized or set aside. Basically, apostasy, this "falling away," originates with rejection of the Word of God. I heard a song on the radio in which some tenor was singing out with gusto about all of the things he had achieved. He finished it all by saying, "I did it my way." This seems to be typi cal of the thinking on the part of some. There is a great effort by men today to achieve their goals through their own strength and in their own power. When it comes to salvation, however, there is no one who can say, "I did it my way." In the final analysis, it is on ly God's way that counts. It alone is efficacious completely. Have you ever heard of the "see-saw" test? It is a good one to apply to any concepts of man. Whenever you find a religious or philosophical view where man is elevating himself, then God will always be degraded. On the other hand, wherever man has taken a humble position of his own life, God is elevated. When one is up, the other is down. You look at the philosophical or religious concepts of people and you will find how this "see-saw" test is applied. Page 38

A little boy in Sunday school class was asked if he knew what "false doctrine" was. He thought for a moment and brightly re sponded, "I think it is when you give somebody the wrong medi cine." Perhaps he had a hold of a truth much greater than he real ized. The world is not sick — it is dead. It needs that which only Christ can provide for our lives. Another popular song cries out, "What the world needs now is love, sweet love." That sounds very poetic and idealistic. What the world really needs right now is a knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Do you realize that you may be the only Christian somebody knows? Let us be aware of the apostasy of our day and at the same time let us be certain that we are living in a manner that will bring honor and glory to our blessed Saviour. Over the years, in the produc tion of Biola's broadcasts, one of my favorite pastimes has been to collect illustrations which point up Scriptural and spiritual truths. Through the kindness of many listening friends, I have received clippings which could be filed away for appropriate use. I have also secured a number of books deal ing with Biblical illustrations. I have come to the conclusion, however, that the best book of illustrations available today is one which most all of us possess in our library. I am talking about the Word of God — the Bible, itself. In our study of the Epistle of Jude, the very prac tical book dealing with the events of the end times, we have a very adequate and comprehensive ba sis for the study of the book of Revelation.
