This practice which dates back many centuries, begins with the dotting of the eyes bringing the lion to life. The lions sway to the rhythm of the beating drums as they perform a ‘Cai Qing’ or the plucking of auspicious greens before making their way through the Qaryat Al Beri complex. The ceremony is then followed by a ‘Yee Sang’ toss that is set to bring prosperity as we begin the ‘Year of the Snake.’
