Kathryn White Adds Author to Resume! by Peri Hayes Kathryn White delightedly discusses how her beautiful book debut came to be. She self-published Living to Thrive: A Holistic Guide to Living with Cancer in September of 2024, releasing through a publisher in November. Kathryn, a Certified Holistic Cancer Coach since 2021, proudly shares that March 18th of this year marked her 10-year post-diagnosis anniversary. In 2015, Kathryn was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. She decided last year that the time felt both right and important for her to explore this storytelling process. “While there has been hardship,” Kathryn candidly recognizes, “it has completely changed my life.” Referring to herself and her community as “cancer thrivers”, Kathryn describes, “From working with women who have cancer, I felt like there was more depth to the story by being able to incorporate their experiences.” This insightful guide travels through various phases of life with cancer, the chapter titles being related to the themes that come up most often in her coaching practice. Kathryn introduces her own background and personal connection to each subject before presenting her cancer coaching program tools. There is also a section in her book wherein she focuses on the language centred around cancer as a source of regulating one’s central nervous system: “I invite people to use language that calms and encourages them to deactivate their fight or flight response.” Another component in one of her chapters is, as the author reveals, “Asking for help is a superpower.” Through Kathryn’s Holistic Cancer Coaching, she offers private coaching and her Living to Thrive Membership Program — highlighting a

foundation of relevant strategies to those during their walk with cancer — as well as group coaching. “Each person’s cancer story is different; this is not a linear one-size-fits-all process. Coaching empowers each person to choose the path that they want to follow.”
