Detailing what the pages of her book entail, Kathryn voices, “It takes someone through the process from diagnosis to thoughts and feelings around the diagnosis, unpacking what just happened and being vulnerable. Instead of asking why this happened, it’s about asking what you are going to do with this.” Furthermore, Kathryn explores topics surrounding the caregiver, the impact on family, internal and external scars on the body and soul, triggers and beyond. Kathryn shines light on healthy bodies, mindfulness and mindset — working through stress and nourishing mind management — along with the spirit and honing in on self-love. “If you don’t believe that you can do hard things, then it can make moving forward even more challenging.” As Kathryn candidly conveys, “The last chapter is about a phone call from one of my doctors who introduced this concept of living with cancer, as opposed to being on this roller coaster all of the time. This levelled the playing field for me.” Asked what inspired Kathryn to write this captivating book, she thoughtfully responds, “I really just want to help and reach

as many people as I can. There is a different way to live with cancer than what is portrayed in movies and books. When people hear the word ‘cancer’, their minds go to the worst. Everybody’s story is different, and I’m trying to maximize this message that, while conventional medicine saved my life, there are things you can do and there are ways to support your body, mind and spirit outside of the doctor’s office. I will be working on my health for the rest of my life. This is a commitment to myself, and it is the best work I have ever done.” “I was at the Elgin Centre for the Spring Expo in March,” Kathryn cheerfully concludes, “where I had a table, and people were coming up and sharing their stories. It was really beautiful to be able to talk with people in our community who are living with cancer.” Kathryn is grateful for these connective experiences, and looks forward to celebrating her book signings moving forward. The multifaceted Kathryn also hosts her podcast titled Living to Thrive with Cancer, presently in Season 4 and featuring close to 70 episodes. “The truth is that not everybody can access a book, coaching, or membership. This podcast is a free, accessible resource on Spotify and on Apple Podcasts.” Living to Thrive: A Holistic Guide to Living with Cancer is available at Port Stanley’s Lake House Books, as well as online through Amazon, Chapters and Kathryn’s kathrynwhite.coach website. The local entrepreneur announces that she has also personally recorded the audiobook for Audible, which will be released in the near future.
