Investment Priorities • Complete the rolling programme of classroom and furniture upgrades at North Holmes campus • Maintaining a 3 year rolling average of maintenance spend at 2-2.5% of Insurance Replacement Value • Fund the maintenance plan taking into account the agreed “Master Plan” buildings and the retained estate for a minimum ten year period. Estate Master Plan Our £150m investment over the next 10 to 15 years will provide a campus for the 21st century which students, staff and the wider community can enjoy. We have an exciting vision to transform our Canterbury Campus, opening contemporary spaces for learning, teaching and research, while celebrating the city’s rich heritage. Carefully designed to complement the history of our campus location on a UNESCO World Heritage Site – built on the grounds of the ancient St Augustine’s Abbey and within sight of Canterbury Cathedral and St Martin’s Church – our new buildings and conversion plans connect the city’s historic sites. Our development of the former Canterbury Prison site and the wider North Holmes Campus is ambitious and is designed to provide contemporary spaces for learning, teaching and research, and will include the creation of a Kent and Medway Engineering, Design, Growth and Enterprise Hub. This major new first class facility will support high value employment, investment and economic growth in science, engineering and technology businesses locally and regionally. Our Estate Master Plan was approved by Canterbury City Council in 2016, providing new buildings and green spaces for students, staff and the local community. This includes a heritage centre and the recreation of the former Pilgrims’ Trail from St Martin’s Church. A new arts building is the first development in our Estate Master Plan and will support new and existing creative and digital courses.
