ProAmpac Joins Association Of Plastic Recyclers ProAmpac has joined The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), a trade association representing companies respon- sible for more than 90 percent of the post-consumer plas- tic processing capacity in North America.APR works to set standards and enhance the quality and quantity of recycled materials through technology, testing, design, and training. Through education and collaboration with APR and its members, ProAmpac is continuing to progress its ProActive Sustainability platform towards a more circular economy. Vinyl Sustainability Council Issues Sustainable Report The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC) said some 1.1 billion pounds (550,000 tons) of the polymer material is diverted from landfills annually in the United States and Canada. The council did not provide a diversion percentage figure attached to the 550,000-ton volume figure. “Post-consumer recycling contributes roughly 15 percent, and this number has grown 40 percent since 2014,”said the council. In its 2019 Our Sustainable Journey report, the council said its Landfill Diversion Task Force “is focused on further reducing the amount of vinyl reaching the landfill by in- creasing the percentage of post-consumer vinyl recycled. The task force is composed of VSC members, allied trade organizations, and recyclers.”
