Well, typing up this article I am three weeks behind my usual weekly report. The main reason being for the past three weeks I have been really suffering, not only with my polymyalgia but I have been really troubled with pains in my side and back. The pains have been that bad at times if they choose to give a jolt while I am walking it has knocked me over. First the doctor said it was my hip causing the pain, as it got worse another visit was made this time after a blood and urine test, I was told I had kidney stones so another scan was booked. Although I was in a lot of pain while the scan was being carried out, I was told that they could find nothing

thing that I could not do myself. It did not take Winnie long to fathom out that Rachel was doing the walks, as soon as she picked up his harness, he would sit down for her to put it on, he was then straight away sitting at the front door. It was then another visit to the doctor as I could hardly walk with the pain, after another examination I was told that I had torn a muscle in the top of my leg. Next stop was to see the chiropractor who was not sure of the problem so sent me for another scan. This scan revealed wear and tear of the hip and muscle, then I was told that I had another hernia so its back to the chiropractor for more treatment as I want it sorted before I go to Portugal for the one loft race. Getting old is not pleasant. I have just received another appointment for another scan plus a one hour session with the chiropractor a few days before Portugal, hopefully some good will come of this. It’s myself and stepdaughter Jo who will be going to Portugal, Jo has been with me for the past two years taking Mary’s place as the girls did not want me to miss out on something that I really enjoy, Jo is very much like Mary as she gets involved and mixes with everyone. Jo is not slow in coming forward with introducing herself to people so she has made quite a few friends with fanciers in Portugal. In my last report I missed out on the Bromley Common result from Kingsdown. With four members sending 75 birds it was Ted Robinson recording the first six positions. The first arrival on 1092 was a blue cock bred from Ted’s Van Reet family, both sire and dam have won 1st prizes, the sire’s best position being 1st Club 2nd Fed this season, the dam also scored 1st Club 1st Fed Honiton. Second pigeon on 1075 was a chequer pied hen, once again a Van Reet with the sire scoring 1st & 2nd Club 3rd & 9th Fed, the next pigeon a blue pied cock was bred from a pair of Van Reet stock pigeons.

appertaining to any kidney stones. As I was now really suffering Rachel, Jo and some grandchildren came to stay as we had previously arranged a family BBQ to celebrate Rachel and Dave’s engagement. It all went ahead as planned but I was in no fit state to do anything so Sam did the BBQ and Molly did all the salad and buffet, they then all stepped in to do the cleaning up. After the weekend all I had to do was replenish my drinks fridge which looked rather empty. While Rachel was staying, along with Dave they were taking Winnie to the park for his ball play as this was some- 1st Open SE Combine Newton Abbot, Bradley, PJ and John Donovan.
