Students at our campuses, including undergrads, collaborate in research and compete in prestigious national and international competitions, earning a long list of accolades: Embry-Riddle Awarded R-2 Status s The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has classified Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University as a Research 2 (R-2) institution. This classification is given to universities that devote significant resources to research and Ph.D. production, specifically those spending at least $5 million annually on research and awarding 20 doctorates each year. The R-2 classification reflects a major milestone for Embry‑Riddle, underscoring its strategic investments in research. NASA Selects Embry-Riddle to Lead Research Project s NASA selected an Embry-Riddle team to lead a $6.7 million research project to equip advanced air mobility aircraft with real-time response. The team is one of three selected by NASA. The three-year project aims to advance airborne transportation technology while providing career mentoring to team members. Collaborative and Dual Campus Team Competitions s Daytona Beach campus students took top honors at the 2024 AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition in Wichita, Kansas, beating out 106 other teams from 92 universities. The Embry‑Riddle squad from the Prescott campus also placed in the top 10, earning eighth overall. The undergraduate teams had to design, build and test a remotely operated airplane for urban air mobility. s Rocketry — Teams from Daytona Beach and Prescott take part in a variety of national and global competitions. In 2023, a team from Prescott shattered several records and achieved the highest undergraduate and collegiate amateur liquid rocket launch in the United States. s Our flight teams have won the NIFA SAFECON national championship 17 times since 1992 and have an unbroken 38-year record as regional champions, with the Prescott Campus team recently winning the 2025 national championship. s Embry-Riddle’s College of Aviation Maintenance sent a team to PBExpo — a premier aviation and aerospace trade show. They were rewarded with seven podium finishes.

AEROSPACE PHYSIOLOGY FL The only undergraduate degree of its kind in the nation, this program blends aerospace with life science and leverages Embry-Riddle’s many strengths to take advantage of emerging opportunities in space and biomedicine. Students study how extreme environments influence biological systems, including the impacts of microgravity and radiation. The extensive curriculum prepares you for a variety of opportunities not only in the medical fields but also in research and development to support the aerospace industry’s need for expertise in behavioral neuroscience, stress and fatigue, nutritional biochemistry, pharmacotherapeutics, health and human performance, genomic expression and the human microbiome, among others. Noteworthy: The program is the first undergraduate program of its kind in the nation. APPLIED BIOLOGY AZ This dynamic program, which features 20 hours of open electives, prepares you to pursue a wide range of options, from applying for astronaut training to health sciences, ecology and wildlife science, along with minors available in uncrewed aircraft systems, human factors psychology or forensic biology. Graduates will have the background and technical skills necessary to apply for admission to graduate/ medical school or professional health sciences programs. ASTRONOMY AZ ASTRONOMY & ASTROPHYSICS FL You will use your mathematics and physics knowledge to study galactic, extragalactic and cosmological scales that encompass exoplanets, stars and star clusters, galaxies and quasars. You’ll have access to resources such as the SARA consortium with connections to telescopes at Kitt Peak, Arizona; Cerro Tololo, Chile; and Roque de Los Muchachos, La Palma, Spain. Our faculty have connections to major resources like the Hubble Space Telescope and lead research programs supported by NASA and the National Science Foundation. If you pursue graduate studies, you could be an astronomer at a large research university, a national observatory or a planetarium, head right to work in commercial or military satellite operations or become an observatory technician or science journalist. The 2024 median annual wage for astronomers and astrophysicists was $166,290, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Noteworthy: The Observatory Complex at the Arizona Campus has ranked eighth in the nation among the Best College Astronomy Observatories by CollegeRank.net; the 1-meter telescope at the Florida Campus is the largest university-based research telescope in Florida.

ENGINEERING PHYSICS FL Embry-Riddle’s Engineering Physics program is one of the largest of its kind in the nation and is the only such program to have a strong emphasis on connecting space science with engineering. Engineering Physics is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, abet.org. The university has a very active research program in space sciences and engineering that is federally and commercially funded. You will participate in hands-on field research as well as computational and modeling research. Our students have participated in sounding rocket launches from Alaska and New Mexico, trips to high altitude and latitude optical installations, including Chile and Antarctica, space systems engineering and satellite design, control and dynamics of autonomous vehicles and so much more. AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT FL AZ We are one of the leading AT-CTI schools with a curriculum and high-fidelity simulation that prepares students for a career in air traffic management or an aviation/aerospace-related organization. You will be taught by professors who have worked in the field as air traffic controllers and/or managers. Your simulation classes take advantage of the most advanced equipment in state-of-the-art labs, including en route, terminal radar and tower. Project-based courses include aviation simulators, computer-aided design systems, animation and video production systems, distributed networks and game development. SPACE PHYSICS FL AZ Embry-Riddle’s Space Physics program is the largest and most comprehensive in the nation, preparing you to work in space/ aerospace industries or to enter graduate programs in physics, astrophysics or space physics. At the Arizona Campus, you’ll explore the structure of the universe from the smallest scale (elementary particles) to the largest (cosmology). You’ll use state-of-the-art research equipment and remote-sensing techniques as you conduct research in tandem with faculty in such areas as astroparticle physics, cosmology, gravitational waves (LIGO), general relativity and exotic propulsion. The program at the Florida Campus focuses on solar-terrestrial and heliospheric physics. You’ll learn about electromagnetic plasma phenomena responsible for atmospheric electricity, space weather and geomagnetic storms, as well as how to analyze in-situ and remote-sensing data. Measuring and modeling techniques are used in atmospheric, ionospheric, magnetospheric and space plasma physics research.
