Projects & Competitions

Students at our campuses, including undergrads, collaborate in research and compete in prestigious national and international competitions, earning a long list of accolades: Daytona Beach and Prescott Teams Selected as Finalists for the NASA Human Lander Challenge s NASA HuLC: Embry-Riddle is being represented by two teams, one from Daytona Beach and one from Prescott, in NASA’s Human Lander Challenge. They are among 12 teams selected for this national competition through NASA’s Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate. Both teams developed strategies for mitigating and protecting assets from plume-to-surface interactions. Prescott’s team, PARSEC — Plume Additive for Reducing Surface Ejecta and Cratering, is an all-undergraduate team that includes freshman-junior engineering students and Daytona Beach’s team, C.R.A.T.E.R. — Ceramic Research Advancement Technology at Embry-Riddle — is based in our MicaPlex. Undergraduate Students Research University Writing/Communication Centers’ User Experiences s Enhancing Academic Support Services: A User Experience Study of Writing & Communication Centers: Creating an effective university writing and communication center is a highly context-driven process, guided by the needs of stakeholders that include multilingual, first-generation and military students, among others. As peer leaders and students, undergraduate tutors are uniquely positioned to research user experiences. This cross-campus study of four faculty-directed writing/communication centers at the Daytona Beach, Prescott and Worldwide campuses supports seven student researchers currently employed in these centers and promotes undergraduate participation in research. Collaborative and Dual Campus Team Competitions s Daytona Beach campus students took top honors at the 2024 AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition in Wichita, Kansas, beating out 106 other teams from 92 universities. The Embry‑Riddle squad from the Prescott campus also placed in the top 10, earning eighth overall. The undergraduate teams had to design, build and test a remotely operated airplane for urban air mobility. s Rocketry — Teams from Daytona Beach and Prescott take part in a variety of national and global competitions. In 2023, a team from Prescott shattered several records and achieved the highest undergraduate and collegiate amateur liquid rocket launch in the United States. s Our flight teams have won the NIFA SAFECON national championship 16 times since 1992 and have an unbroken 38-year record as regional champions, with the Prescott Campus team recently winning its third national championship title in a row. s Embry-Riddle’s FBLA Collegiate Business Club has won the Arizona FBLA State Leadership in-person competition for the past 16 years, earning 32 total awards during the recent 2024 event.

Study Abroad We offer opportunities to study abroad for a summer, semester or year. Additional spring and winter programs may be offered as well. s Earn course credits toward your 4-year plan, degree program, and graduation without missing a beat. Our courses count, so you won’t fall behind! s We have different ways you can GO GLOBAL: Exchange programs for a semester or year, summer programs, spring programs and more. s Exchange Programs: • Stay on track with your studies and enhance your employability and global footprint by studying abroad on exchange at one of our partner universities for a semester or year. • Available for all majors and minors, exchange programs allow you to utilize your scholarships and grants just as you would if you stayed on campus for a semester or year. s Spend a semester or year at one of our partner universities in: • Hong Kong, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, England, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Greece, Netherlands, Sweden and many more. s Looking for a shorter experience? Join our Embry-Riddle faculty-led programs that last anywhere from two to five weeks, allow you to earn college credits and are half the price of regular tuition! s A sample of the summer, spring and winter programs available: • Aviation in Greece, Spain, Germany, France and England • UAS in Argentina, Kosovo and the Southwest U.S. working with cultural preservation and environmental topics • Business in the UK, Zambia, Italy, France and Greece • Various engineering offerings in Germany and Austria • Air traffic management, an interna - tional award-winning program that introduces you to four countries • Meteorology and physics in the Swiss Alps • German language, culture and engineering • International Asia Pacific finance in Singapore • Arabic language and culture in Rabat, Morocco, Jordan, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates • Severe weather in the Midwest U.S. Programs can change slightly each term in regard to location and courses offered.

Career services professionals with industry-specific specialties assist you in finding valuable educational experiences to add to your resume. s  We partner with JetBlue on the University Gateway Program, one of 12 specialized programs that offer our Aeronautical Science students a defined path to a career as a pilot. We’ve also partnered with Delta Air Lines and SkyWest on innovative programs aimed at getting aviation students interviews for pilot positions. Both partnerships include pilot mentors. s  We are now part of the United Airlines Aviate program, which creates even more opportunities for flight students to become first officers at the global carrier. s  Global Security and Intelligence Studies and Homeland Security and Intelligence students intern at the FBI, CIA, DEA, Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security and Intelligence, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, emergency operations centers, sheriffs’ offices and police departments. s  Internships can be paid positions with companies and may include benefits such as housing and relocation allowances. s  Industry/Career Expos collectively bring 100+ companies and agencies to our campuses to interact with and recruit our residential and online students and alumni. s  Students in any area of study can find cooperative education opportunities through the Careers Services Office and earn college credit as well as priceless work experience. Career Services s  The Career Services Office offers resume reviews and assistance with interviewing skills, setting up your LinkedIn profile and other career preparation activities. s  Need help finding a career-boosting co-op or internship placement? The professionals in Career Services can assist you. s  Attend one of the many Career Expo events on the residential campuses to meet with hundreds of potential employers.

Dual Enrollment s Embry-Riddle’s renowned Dual

Enrollment Program helps students develop the advanced critical thinking skills needed for continuing academic success while earning college credit in high school. The program is offered both online and at many high schools and features coursework that can be transferred to post-secondary schools. It provides unequaled STEM learning opportunities and potential tuition savings.
