MRA celebrates 40 years in business ABINGDON, MD – This year, Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc.’s (MRA) celebrates its 40th year in business. The local profes- sional services firm, founded by Richard Morris and M. Kirk Ritchie and began in Bel Air as a two-man civil engineering and surveying business, has grown into one of the largest Architectural, Engineering, and Planning companies in the mid-Atlan- tic region. Headquartered in Abingdon, the firm now has a staff of more than 190, with eight offices located within Maryland, Delaware, Virgin- ia, and North Carolina, man- aged by 21 principals. MRA’s services include architecture; urban and land planning; civil/site, water/wastewater, pipeline, coastal, and struc- tural engineering; landscape architecture; homebuilder; and surveying services. According to MRA presi- dent Frank Hertsch, PE , several factors have contrib- uted to the firm’s long-term success. “First and foremost, it’s the people - our clients and staff. Without the best of both a business cannot succeed.” While the firm believes that their most important asset is their employees, they know that the most important people in their business are their clients. From day one, MRA was built on its dedication to providing its customers with the best service pos- sible. To MRA that means focusing on providing quality design, constructible plans, dependable pricing, and on time delivery. MRA’s project managers use their experi- ence and expertise to provide a quality work product while striving to protect their cli- ents’ investment. During MRA’s 40-year history, the firm has pro- vided a variety of services on thousands of commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, recreational and infrastructure projects.  parties through the timelines and regulations of the New Jersey Department of Envi- ronmental Protection for site remediation.
