Respect yourself Every member of our community should recognise their own value and take responsibility for looking after their own wellbeing, reaching out to the help available when we need it. We should also be mindful of how we establish and signal our integrity. We must all uphold academic integrity at all times, recognising that high standards of academic achievement are only meaningful if they are based on our genuine work. What does this mean for me? ■ Ask questions during your classes and speak to your module tutors if you need extra support ■ Be genuine and honest to yourself by adhering to the academic integrity policies ■ Make use of the support systems in place when you need them – go and speak to your Programme Team or Wellbeing and Student Support if you need help, do not struggle alone.
Respect our common life together
Every member of the community has a role in supporting the wellbeing of others. We thrive together by supporting and encouraging our peers, recognising that respect and care are mutual, and celebrating our achievements together. What does this mean for me? ■ Think about how you engage with your peers, and how you support each other ■ Engage with opportunities to provide feedback on your experiences at WBS ■ Be considerate and kind – we do not always know what challenges others are dealing with ■ Help to create a supportive environment so that everyone feels comfortable speaking in class and during group discussions.
Upholding the charter This charter is a living document, intended to evolve with our university community. Respect is not just an expectation, but a shared value that makes WBS a better place for everyone. We aim to embed the value of respect into the culture of WBS, through continuous development involving our staff and students. We also expect and enable members of the WBS community to hold each other to account, under the principles outlined in this charter.
