Formed in 2019, the London Community Artists is a group of 75 member artists from the London, Ontario area. Ranging in experience from emerging artists to accomplished full-time professionals, their work is often seen in galleries and venues across London and Southwestern Ontario. Cherryhill Village Mall and the Convergence Centre at Western University host ongoing public exhibits. Members also volunteer to hang their artwork at the LHSC Children’s Hospital to help cheer families and staff. “Although I frequently see artwork by our members and am familiar with the quality of the work, seeing the annual show always exceeds my expectations,” says Thérèse Grawey, 2024 LCA show convener. “The experience of seeing all that art in one place is pure joy for our members and for visitors alike.” The London Community Artists show will be held at St. Anne’s Anglican Church, 1344 Commissioner’s Road West, starting the evening of Thursday, November 7, from 6 to 9 pm. It opens again Friday, November 8, from 10 am to 9 pm, and Saturday, November 9, from 10 am to 5 pm.
London Community Artists 6th Annual Art Show and Sale The London Community Artists will host their sixth art show and sale at St. Anne’s Church in Byron once again. The annual event is not only an opportunity to see original work created by the art group’s members, it’s also a chance for you to meet the artists in person. This year, the show features 57 artists with a wide variety of styles, including landscapes, portraits, and abstracts. A collection of 250 original pieces will be on display in mediums such as acrylics, oils, watercolour, ink, coloured pencil, photography, fabric, paper, and mixed media. All art is original and created by members of the London Community Artists. Prior to opening night, the talented London artist Brian Normandeau will judge each piece and select 10 entries to receive a “Judges Choice” award ribbon. Community Gathering Neighbours from Robinwood and Foxcroft Crescents gathered on September 23rd for their annual street party. The festivities began with a parade of children on their newly decorated bikes led by Byron bagpiper Justyn Reid. The fun continued through the afternoon and evening with games, ping-pong in the street, face painting, a henna artist, a treasure hunt, food trucks Tikka Tomato and Donut Diva, and a movie night in a neighbour’s driveway.
Thank you to the City of London and the Neighbourhood Decision-Making Committee for supporting this treasured community event!
