Girls’ Sport
Upper School This week’s matches emerged straight from Bertie Bassett’s back pocket, with Allsorts happening on the Hockey pitch. The 1sts suffered a chastening afternoon, as St Andrews dominated. Bebe BS was superb in goal keeping the opposition to just 5 goals, but despite the best efforts of the rest of the team, this was a hard day at the office. However, as Yazz said, ‘the only way is up…’ Bea M produced an outstanding performance for the 2s, ably supported by Eliza H, who grabbed the game’s only goal, and Cassie W, who stopped the opposition cancelling it out. The 3s lost by the odd goal in a close encounter that was settled late on. Ophelia D, Hazel J and Maya B were rocks in defence, Jess H, Anna C, Charlotte J and Olivia VM, all played well up the right flank, with Jess the MVP. This was a huge step in the right direction. The 4s and 5s drew a blank in front of goal, but the former were driven forth by an MVP performance from Poppy B, whilst the 5ths taliswoman was Olivia L. The Colts As and Bs scored 5 and conceded 5, the As on the wrong end of a 2 – 3 result, in spite of the best endeavours of Gracey A, and the Bs coming back from 2 down to rally for victory 3 – 2; Phoebe C with the winning goal, Seraphina J channelling her inner Berlin to lay down an impassable wall in the second half, and thus being named MVP. The Colts C and D fought hard, but to no avail as far as the scores were concerned; however there were improved performances from Eliza U, Masha F, Aggie A, Nea N, Yuki and Ellis. Ultimately, who likes liquorice allsorts anyway. Middle School The U9 girls came up against a tough opposition in the Dragon school. However, we put on a good performance and played some great Hockey. The C team put on the performance of the day, after conceding an early goal, the team came roaring back and thanks to 2 goals each from Emilia and Celia they won 4-1. The B team had a very close 3-2 defeat, Jess did some great tackling. The A team came up against a very strong team, but our passing improved during the game and Tinker and Darcy defended very well.
