THIS WEEK IN... RECEPTION
This week, we have been celebrating our homes and where we live. Everybody's home is different - some are big, some are small, some have garages, and some have very tall chimneys! We compared our homes to homes in other countries around the world. Can you remember what they look like and why? We also enjoyed looking at maps and noticing all of the different symbols. We read ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and were then challenged to build a new house to protect them from the pesky wolf!
In Maths, we have continued to use the counting principles learnt in Week 2 & 3. The children have been representing numbers in concrete and pictorial ways, as well as linking an amount to the correct numeral. To support your child with this at home, you could encourage them to help you set the table e.g. 5 plates, 5 cups etc.
Book of the Week: The Three Little Pigs by Nicola Baxter WOW words: expedition, construct, villain, demolish, comeuppance
In Phonics, we have learnt the sounds t, i, n and p, and the tricky word ‘I’.
