KEY IMPACT FACTS CHILDREN & TEENS
PJ LIBRARY Every month, nearly 5,500 children from 4,000+ families receive the gift of a PJ Library book that celebrates Jewish values.
EARLY CHILDHOOD 720 early childhood educators have access to Federation-sponsored specialized professional development, including attending conferences with our partners and receiving grants to host high-quality presenters. GMW’s Right Start program has given vouchers to 320 families enrolling a child for the first time in one of our Jewish early childhood centers, totaling $300K. SCHOOL AGE 30 congregational schools participate in our educational programming and professional development. Our nationally renowned Day School Initiative contributes to the success of about 2,500 students and faculty each year. The Quest for Teaching Excellence program has invested over $2.5M to enhance the work of faculty in all four Jewish day schools via professional development experiences, funding of faculty deans to oversee professional development, grants to address specific school goals, and a community-wide learning conference attended by nearly 500 faculty.
SUMMER CAMP Our Jewish Camp Enterprise has awarded over 4,500 grants totaling over $5M to date to send kids to Jewish overnight camps.
TEENS Approximately 16K teens have engaged in Federation’s volunteer, philanthropy, and leadership opportunities in the last 18 years. In its 20-year existence, the Iris Teen Tzedakah program has helped hundreds of teens deepen their understanding, ability, and desire to impact our community through philanthropy. Collectively they have allocated about $350K to over 130 initiatives. Over 150 local teens deepened their identities, knowledge, and leadership skills through immersive, multi-session travel and/or learning programs, many of which focused on combatting antisemitism, building interfaith understanding, or strengthening knowledge of and connection with Israel.
KEY IMPACT FACTS COMMUNITY
COLLEGE STUDENTS Hillel of Greater MetroWest focuses on Jewish life at six area colleges—Fairleigh Dickinson, Kean, Montclair State, NJIT, Rutgers-Newark, and Seton Hall—engaging approximately 1,500 students and staff annually. Hillel works every day to support students, develop student leaders, monitor campus-linked antisemitism, influence administrators, and respond appropriately and rapidly to the very different needs of each of its campuses. ISRAEL ENGAGEMENT Greater MetroWest’s Israeli emissaries— rishonim and shlichim —engage with thousands of people annually, including congregational and day school students, adult program participants, college students, and campers. HOLOCAUST EDUCATION The Holocaust Education Department provided in-person/classroom Holocaust education to about 17,000 students and educators through presentations by survivors or their descendants, StoryFile presentations, day trips, professional development, and other educational programs. LEADERSHIP In the last year, about 80 adult volunteers participated in Federation’s leadership development cohort programs, which provided them with in-depth opportunities to learn about the important work of Federation and our partner agencies, to discover how to get more involved, and to embrace roles as community leaders. VOLUNTEERING In 2025, more than 2,000 people participated in one or more meaningful service projects through Federation, including our many-site Community Mitzvah Day and nearly 3 dozen smaller volunteer opportunities, as the Center for Volunteerism works to build volunteerism across Federation and the Greater MetroWest Jewish community.
