Welcome!

On behalf of everyone here at CK Cattle and Wager Cattle, I’d like to personally invite you and yours to our 9th Annual Production Sale.

2025 will forever go down as one of the most memorable years around our places and I’d imagine around yours as well. The most obvious of highlights for 2025 has been the record-breaking prices and profits seen by the American Cattleman. The common question with producers is “How long will this last?” Fundamentally, it looks as if we have legs for a bit. Demand is still as high as it has ever been and we are the only animal protein that has a quality standard for our consumers. That’s what sets us apart. Another question has been, “Will the consumer continue to buy our product at a high level?” I’m going to steel an analogy by Charles Mogck last spring at his sale, “As long as consumers continue to buy $8 coffee, we should be OK.” I haven’t heard it put any better than that. All I can say is that looking at the fundamentals of the business, the cow/calf producer holds the hammer. Another highlight of 2025 was the acquisition of the R&R Cattle Company herd. This is something that has us as excited as anything we’ve done. You will notice the bull calves from their operation within the book and they fit right in. With the highs, 2025 was one of monumental losses for our family. We lost some very close friends, but they were more than friends…they were family! There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t have some sort of thought about them. They are sorely missed, but more important, we think of their families. Life moves on, and it’s definitely different without them. Our philosophy has not changed with our program. We are trying to build cattle for the commercial cattleman. As always, they must breed, raise a calf, have a good udder, good feet, and do all this with minimal inputs. We refuse to trim feet, strip udders or propagate open cows. We are very proud of this set of cattle. We continually work at bringing the best cattle to you that we believe will add profit to your programs. There is a high percentage of homo black bulls and solid black individuals. The bulls will be genomic enhanced on their EPD profiles. The scan data, adjusted yearling weights, and scrotal measurements will be on a supplement sheet. Bulls will be semen tested and given foot rot, pinkeye and breeding shots prior to delivery around April 15, 2026. We will offer free delivery on the bulls within South Dakota and the surrounding states. Delivery on the heifers will be the buyer’s responsibility. The bred heifers will be re-pregged and have shots up to date. Once again, we will have Prime Rib and refreshments during and after the sale. Feel free to call or stop by anytime. The coffee is always hot and the beer cold. Thank you for your continued support, and welcome to our new customers!

We appreciate your support and look forward to working with you. We hope to see you Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2 PM!

Sincerely, Chris Effling

In today’s progressive marketplace, each participant needs to take full advantage of any opportunity to gain an edge on the competition. Marketing live cattle is an art and a process, regardless of market type, and so experience plays a major role, just as it does in anything else in life. Chris Effling has been a master at developing and strengthening relationships he has built over the past three decades in the beef industry. He has always made himself available to the beef public through association, media employment, or work as a seedstock supplier. Over the past four to five years, he has become very aggressive in the commercial sector, making feeder cattle placements, filling heifer replacement orders, or simply putting loads of cows together to assist loyal customers and the friends of those loyal customers, strengthening the bond with a bit more torque with each transaction. Marketing is a relationship business, and the loyalty built through those relationships can lead to a generational bond that keeps both entities striving to do and be better year after year. Chris is always on the hunt for the next genetic contributor or contributors from a bull-power standpoint. If the ideal female comes within reach of his path, that’s sure to be an acquisition as well, but his experience tells him that diversity in number and consistency in kind spread through the program faster when the right bull power is acquired. The bull battery and the history of the herd sire arsenal at CK and Wager are nothing short of impressive and historic. The pedigree ledgers between the pages of this catalog tell the story and shed light on how this impactful program started years ago. The firm’s latest acquisition would be the purchase of the entire working cow herd and donor arsenal of the famed R&R Cattle Company of Chamberlain, SD. Chris and Steve have always maintained a mutual relationship of respect and trust, so when Steve decided to hang up his spurs, the phone call was made. Several months later, the agreement was reached, and the transaction finalized. This set of cattle will feature the 2025 calf crop from the Reimer operation and will offer a bit more purchasing flexibility for those devout, long-time CK and Wager customers from a genetic standpoint without sacrificing the performance and maternal longevity that the current customer base is so familiar with. CK Cattle hosted their initial commercial bred heifer and young cow sale at Mitchell Livestock Auction. Most of the females carried the direct influence of CK and Wager sires with the AI service of in-house sires like Woodhill Abraham F838-K680. The product was very well received the second Monday of December as the entire set of 600 plus head averaged nearly $4,300 per head. This is just another example of how Chris and his family aim to help you and your family when you become a loyal bull customer. We invite you to join us for the 9th Annual CK Cattle & Wager Cattle Production Sale in Highmore, SD on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The cattle will be on display for your appraisal, and the hospitality will be first class! We encourage you to bring your entire family, as dinner will be served following the sale. If you have any questions about the offering, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Innovation AgMarketing team, we would love to visit with you about the cattle. We will see you all on Valentine’s Day in Highmore!

Enjoy the cattle,

CK AND WAGER SIRED CALVES TOP THE MARKET ! “We have been purchasing Simmental and SimAngus bulls from CK Cattle and Wager Cattle to capitalize on the added heterosis that SimGenetics can bring to the table. The improved carcass data, real world performance, and ability to consistently grade is what these bulls have contributed to our operation. The Simmental influenced cattle not only perform in the feedlot, but the female contemporaries offer a strong maternal foundation that will benefit the cowherd for years to come. We have been very impressed with the ability that these bulls have to cover large country and maintain flesh during breeding season.” - Darren Ridley

Welcome to the Sale

The acquisition of the R&R Cattle Company herd is something we are very excited about. Steve and Elaine wrote the book when it comes to people of honor, integrity, trust and downright good stockmen. Steve is one of the people I would call frequently over the years for advice and direction. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity on a set of cattle like this. This herd is a lifetime of work that had heavy and strict culling pressures put on them. Kristi asked one night how we were so lucky to be given this opportunity and my response was “I have no idea!” It’s definitely an honor to have this chance to work with this set of cows and people. We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Steve and Elaine Reimer for believing in and trusting us with their legacy.

COOPERATOR HERDS

Thank you to these families who work with us daily as co-op herds. We appreciate their attention to detail, hard work and dedication.

THE PATRIOT SIRE GROUP

LOT 1 - CKCC MR PATRIOT 5671N

• The WAGR Patriot 1008J sire group continues to rise year after year. ECC CKCC Roosevelt 4903M was the 2025 high selling sale feature that was selected by Windy Creek Cattle Company to the tune of $100,000. We feel like there are multiple paternal brothers that could come very close to rivaling 4903M within the lineup for 2026. • There is no better way to initiate this year’s offering than a son of “Patriot” from a dam that was bred in the program of our late, great friend, Troy Thomas. There is no concluded value to TR’s mentorship and friendship, but his legacy will live on through this program and many others. • The famed “Katinka” cow family is unrivaled for udder quality, longevity, and overall build. Their innate ability to produce cattle like this son of 1008J consistently, year after year is unmatched. • We certainly admire this stud on the hoof as he offers a balanced look with suitable power, but it was his value on paper and recorded data that pushed him across the goal line. His commercial value is that he comes with the credentials to sire cattle that should feed, convert, and perform with the absolute best of them, while his seed stock value is just as significant, if not more. • He ranks in the top 3% for CW, the top 5% for REA, the top 10% for WW, the top 15% for YW and TI, and the top 25% for Marb and ADG.

• A purebred specimen with added performance and muscle shape from end to end. His rib design is deep and bold, flank soft, and forerib bold. He’s very genuine from the surface up and sets to down with a significant amount of foot and durability that will play into his overall longevity as a herd sire. • He impressed the masses at the weaning pen as he adjusted to 825 pounds of payweight to ratio 120. • His genomic data places him among the top 3% of the business for WW, with an EPD value of over 101.8. He also ranks among the top 10% for YW, the top 15% for MWW, and the top 20% for ADG and TI.

• This stud has a maternal sister in the bred heifer lineup that should grab the attention of many. The cattle from the productive running dam are true for density and center body shape with plenty of muscle and substance of skeleton. • We appreciate the overall mass and circumference of surface area this herd sire prospect brings to the equation. • It is with great pleasure that we introduce one of the greatest breeding achievements in the history of the CK Cattle and Wager Cattle breeding programs! CKCC MR Patriot 5662N is a dynamic son of the impressive WAGR Patriot 1008J that is further supported by the strong and everlasting influence on the maternal side of his pedigree by the iconic WAGR Driver 706T. 5662N is a homozygous black and polled stud that checks all the boxes from a phenotype and genotype standpoint. • Offering a bit of a different twist on the maternal side of the genetic ledger with the presence of the sire by Ruby’s Turnpike 771E, WBF Significant B132. • This prospect is long sided with a pinch more frame that assisted his weaning ratio of 102. His expected data places him in the upper 10% for CW, the top 15% for REA and DOC, and the top 20% for WW. • 5662N is as a burly made, wide based, square built, and genuine as any herd sire prospect in the offering. He is a true beef bull that embodies the fundamental principals in which the CK Cattle and Wager Cattle breeding programs were established. In our mind 5662N has the credentials to move any progressive breeding establishment into the future!

The strategy opens many doors for those programs that stay hitched to the idea. • Genomics may have put this brother closer to the top of the heap as he charts in the top 4% for $GN, the top 15% for Milk and CW, top 20% for ADG, and the top 25% for YW, MWW, Marb, and TI, with a top third driver for WW. • This may be the one that ties it all together when maturity takes hold!

CKCC MR RECHARGE 4623M Full Brother to Lot 28

• This stud maintains a strong presence in the pen, as he is up headed with a big, genuine turn to his back and upper rib, while offering spread credentials from a modest 80-pound adjusted birth weight to nearly 730 pounds at weaning. • He puts up quite the numeric profile, ranking in the top 2% for CW, the top 10% for WW, YW, ADG, MWW, and REA, the top 15% for his TI value, and the top 25% for Milk. • A maternal sister to this elite prospect by K256 sells as lot 231 in the bred heifer offering. That is something to take serious note of on their dam’s ability to consistently generate quality regardless of sire influence.
