NEWCOMER EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT PROGRAM (NESP) Newcomer Employment Support Program offers employment counseling with one-on-one support and group sessions for Arabic speaking refugees, especially those employment obligated on Provincial Assistance and youth aged out of high school. Job search skills, interview skills, along with alternate career/self-employment pathways are explored and provided to low skilled newcomer jobseekers who have difficulty accessing and/or not ready for WorkBC and/or not eligible for Career Paths for Skilled Immigrant Program. The program also offers mini job fairs and networking opportunities for job seekers. Outcomes: Clients receive appropriate information and services to address settlement needs. Clients attain awareness of community and other resources to deal with settlement issues. Clients gain knowledge of life in Canada, including laws, rights, and responsibilities. Clients are better equipped with knowledge and skills related to the Canadian labour market. Clients obtain connections to communities and local public institutions. Clients make informed decisions about life in Canada, enjoy rights and act on their responsibilities in Canadian society Clients use official languages to function and participate in Canadian society Clients participate in local labour markets, broader communities and social networks
