A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDEN T
Dear MCCSC Students and Families, Welcome to Monroe County Community School Corporation! MCCSC has a long history of supporting local, public schools, including the 2010 and 2016 referenda. On November 8, 2022, our community voted to approve the 2022 Referendum. This support allows us to remain focused on our mission: Empowering students to maximize their educational success to become productive, responsible global citizens. It is an honor to work in a community that has continually demonstrates strong support for and tremendous pride in its public schools. Our community values quality of life, excellent educational opportunities and a community that supports a diverse and vibrant population that collectively makes us stronger. We cannot thank you enough for your ongoing support of public education, which is the cornerstone of our great democracy. We are aware of this importance and are committed to providing equitable educational opportunities for all our students. We celebrate the diversity of our students and staff as these differences strengthen our schools. This reality is one thing that makes public education so strong and so very valuable: now, more than ever. To meet the district's mission, MCCSC Board of School Trustees and leadership established a five-year Strategic Plan that focuses our priorities and goals on Equity, Diversity, Funding, and Communication. The district and school leaders will utilize the priorities and goals to align the many facets of their job responsibilities in a way that keeps the district moving forward in one direction while maintaining the unique features of our schools. This important work will provide significant guidance and direction for MCCSC over the next few years and continue the progressive and student- centered work that remains part of this district's culture. These early childhood programs prepare our youngest populations for a solid foundation to begin in our elementary school programs which serves students in grades K-6. Children must begin kindergarten ready to learn and with the necessary foundational skills; this is one reason why early childhood education is essential. We hope you will take advantage of the quality PK-grade 6 educational opportunities at MCCSC. At the secondary level, Indiana’s Graduation Pathways begin with the Class of 2023. The pathways provide students and families with increased flexibility. We have worked diligently to expand course offerings to increase how students can meet diploma requirements based on course credits, the mastery of employability skills, and the demonstration of postsecondary-ready competencies. As MCCSC expands our secondary opportunities in grades 7-12, we are confident that our students are prepared for post-secondary educational opportunities and careers. MCCSC continues its tradition of being an established leader in today’s educational landscape, AND we thank you for the important role you play in public education.
