Then in early March, COVID created widespread havoc as shel- ter in place orders were issued and most businesses were instructed to close or streamline operations.

“Government regulations brought about changes in the way we conduct business. We were suddenly dealing with many challenges on multiple fronts. Daily health checks and workplace hazard assessments were now mandatory. New policies and practices for social distancing, cleaning and disinfecting were instituted. Some employees began working remotely, creating obstacles that we had to quick- ly overcome to continue to service our customers. Cou- pled with all the new ways of doing business, there were supply chain concerns with parts and materials. Needless to say, like many others, we had our hands full. “Initially, requests from customers for delayed installa- tions were received. Then, requests received for extended shipping dates created challenges in planning production. Somehow, throughout this time, the pieces just seemed to fall in place. “Normally, delays in shipping and installations would cause major disruptions to shop operations and workflow, but what was normal about 2020? The delay requests al- lowed us to adapt the new requirements for doing busi- ness, as well as to shuffle jobs and to create space to accommodate projects that had initial long lead time pro- jections. It also allowed us to accelerate some R&D and other projects we had in the pipeline. With all things con- sidered, the Geo. Martin team pulled together and made the very best out of a stressful and challenging situation. “As we entered the fourth quarter, we began to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Geo.
