Philistines sent back the ark of God they placed it on a new cart, and it was delivered safely to Israel. They were never taught by the Lord how to handle this wonderful piece of furni ture. However, when David tried to bring the ark to Jerusalem by copying the heathen manner, God let a curse fall on Israel, for they had been told how to do it. We Should Be Active in Soul Winning Psa. 126:6 Winning souls to Christ must be done through intelligent presentation of the gospel of God’s grace. Telling a sin ner “let go” or to “hold on” or to “ pray through” will not produce born-again souls. The sinner must' be told of his need of the Person of Christ and of His work on Calvary. His faith must be an intelligent trust in the sufficient Saviour and all that He has accomplished at the cross. The entrance of God’s Word brings light and life, and there is no substitute. Let us be active, yet sensible in this great work. We Should Be Active In Bible Study 2 Tim. 2:15 Our value in Christian service will be determined largely by our knowledge of God’s Word and our ability to handle it effectively. The continual plowing of the ground will not produce a crop. Seed must be planted if results are to be ob tained. The seed is the Word of God. It must be planted in human hearts if godly results are to be obtained. It is not suf ficient to urge people to go to church or attend Sunday school. They must re ceive something from God through the explanation given by those who know the Bible. We Should Be Active In Teaching the Scripture 2 Tim. 4:2 The Bible contains many lines of truth which Christians need to know. Teaching the gospel is essential. Teaching prophecy is profitable. Teaching the truth concern ing devotional life is helpful. Teaching that explains the types and symbols is illuminating. Those who are taught in the Word of God should teach others. Part of the commission is to go and “ teach.” By the teaching of God’s truth, hearts are changed, minds are enlight ened, and life becomes fruitful and ac tive. We Should Be Active In Helping Others Rom. 16:1 All Christian activity should have for its aim and objective the comfort and blessing of God’s people as well as the salvation of the lost. To do this many physical needs must be met. The furnace must be tended and the pews dusted. The hymnbooks must be distributed and the piano opened and the church ready for the service. Books must be kept in the office and letters must be written to members. All of this work should center around the teaching and preaching of God’s good gospel so that sinners may be saved and saints edified. T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
