Bosa - secret beauty of a fishing town
sociation with Sardinia, which is total- ly understandable. No filters are need- ed here. It’s enough to whip out your phone or camera and just record the magic. Though I have to admit that no photographic image can fully capture the shades of blue and turquoise that make Sardinia’s coastline so magical- ly beautiful. It is truly a unique dimen- sion of blueness that words cannot ade- quately describe. Cala Goloritzé (one of the world’s most stunningly beautiful beaches), Cala Mariolu and Cala Luna are the gems of the Gulf of Orosei – itself a paradise for lovers of pristine nature. This gulf is characterised by the syner- gy of terrifying cliffs and gentle seas. The beaches are almost inaccessible, un- less approached from the sea or over the rocks. The choice is yours. Costa Smeralda – jewel of Sardinia Sardinia’s famous Emerald Coast is an unmissable spot. This region in the is- land’s northeast represents a min- iature Sardinia. Here you can find
everything – some of the most beauti- ful bays, lying in the embrace of end- less and dense forests, but also rocky coasts, charming towns and luxury re- sorts like Porto Cervo, which attracts the world’s jet set. Porto Cervo isn’t only synonymous with luxury, but also with authentic- ity, thanks to its unique architecture and interesting terrain. The village of San Pantaleo is particularly alluring. It was a sleepy fishing village until the 1970s, when it first attracted artists as residents, primarily painters seek- ing inspiration. And that comes as no surprise when you see the surround- ing nature, which makes you wonder how such a small and serene place can simultaneously seem so big and pow- erful. And what better way to get acquainted with the everyday lives of locals than at the market? For the past four dec- ades, San Pantaleo has hosted a great bazaar every Thursday, which you sim- ply mustn’t miss!
Bosa is one of those quaint little towns with narrow streets, pastel-coloured build- ings and ancient stone edifices that de- fy the ravages of time. It stands out as the only town traversed by the only naviga- ble river on the entire island. And Bosa’s charm is best seen from the perspective of the Temo River. Rows of multicoloured buildings carved into the rocks give the city an irresistible panorama. At the very top is the Castle of Serravalle, which was built by the noble Malaspina family in the early 12 th century. A stroll through Bo- sa’s alleyways is exciting, while it is perfect for wandering aimlessly and discovering enticing corners. Bosa is about an hour‘s drive from Alghero, and on the way you can take a short break and enjoy stunning views of the coast from the road, which winds through incredible landscapes.
