Tufne su razigrane, ne poznaju ozbiljnost. One su smele i upečatljive Polka dots are playful, they don’t know seriousness. They are bold and striking

worn by an intern at a marketing agen- cy? Very cute. An overcoat covered in contrasting polka dots worn by a wom- an who just got divorced for the fourth time? Divine. The same pattern worn by a child? To be expected. And warn by Harry Styles? Ingenious. In the great symphony of fashion cy- cles, polka dots aren’t a trend. They are the chorus – the tune we hum un- consciously, woven into our memory over millions of fashion show referenc- es and birthday party dresses. Unlike stripes or plaid, polka dots know no hi- erarchy. This pattern is equally at home at a tea party and in an art gallery. It’s democratic, joyful and – if you ask Marc Jacobs – slightly subversive (his 2025 Resort collection included polka dots on latex). Critics will claim that they’re outdated; that they belong on postcards of Paris in the 1950s, or the aprons of housewives from Kovačica. But pol-

ka dots aren’t afraid of kitsch. On the contrary, they use it as a weapon. They dance on the boundaries of good taste, then stride gracefully into legend. Yes, fashion catwalks will continue to flirt with techno-materials, alien sil- houettes and whatever “quiet luxu- ry” is trying to be this week. But the polka dot will remain – not standing, but jumping on the sidelines, ready to make a comeback in style. That’s be- cause while minimalism whispers, pol- ka dots giggle. And fashion? Fashion is always in need of a little laughter.
