When MICHAEL SANDERS came to Averitt in 2019 as a city driver, he wanted a different experience from what he had with his previous carrier and as an owner-operator. What he’s seen has been so good that he’s helped several people get hired through People Like You referrals. “I saw how Averitt treated me,” recalls Michael, who was promoted to his current position as frontline leader about three years ago. “And from that point, I just wanted other people to feel what I felt.” ‘YOU KNOW HOW I GET DOWN’ Michael has recently had lots of referral success, with four People Like You hires in 2024 alone. “The ones I’ve referred here lately are people I know personally. They know me. And I tell them, ‘You know how I get down,’” Michael explains with a laugh. “I want to make sure I don’t bring on anybody who is lazy or won’t listen. I want people who have an open mind.” Michael’s referrals have found out that he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to the Averitt experience. “I’ve got people here now who have come up to me and said, ‘I didn’t think it was going to be like this. I should have come sooner,’” Michael says. “And I tell them, ‘I’ve been trying to tell you!’” A KEEN EYE Whether it’s people he knows or those who work for other carriers, Michael is very open with them about what to expect. “I'm looking for people who are hungry and are willing to do the job and make Averitt the best, just like it is,” says Michael, who employs a mix of Charlotte Frontline Leader Builds Averitt With People Like You Referrals
