Collecting Sacks and recyclables from customers premises
All staff to have manual handling training
New sack customers to be issued with customer instruction not to exceed weight (printed on sack)

Lifting carrying refuse sacks
● Before clearance commences staff to carry out a dynamic risk assessment. ● Wear company approved PPE – Gloves Hi Vis, Safety Boots as a minimum. ● Use proper lifting techniques (bend knees, keep back straight). ● Only lift sacks within your personal capabilities ● Test load before lifting. Ensure sack is balanced and manageable ● Report overweight sacks using Purgo system to service team ● Sales team to advise customer of weight restrictions and what items can be placed in the sack ● Wear appropriate gloves to protect hands. ● Handle the sack carefully, avoiding areas where sharp objects may be located. ● Inspect the sack for any visible sharp objects before lifting. ● Carry the sack from the knot ● Avoid direct contact with the waste. ● Check the integrity of the sack before lifting. ● Clean any spills immediately to prevent slips and contamination. ● Wash hands thoroughly after contact with any refuse.
