● Clear the pathway of obstacles before collecting and or plan your route. ● Be cautious and move slowly, especially in areas with uneven, slippery surfaces ● Avoid carrying sacks during adverse weather conditions if possible ● Wear appropriate non-slip footwear ● Report all safety concerns/Near Misses & Incidents/Accidents ● Stand clear of the crush zone (not under containers) ● Do not walk under raised bins – stand to one side ● Ensure the container is clamped fully before lifting fully from the ground. ● Keep hands and body clear of moving parts. ● Wear PPE including gloves when operating the equipment ● Do not stand immediately by hopper whilst the vehicle is compacting ● Do not overload the hopper ● Do not try and remove items from mechanical area when in vehicle operation ● Use Emergency stops for manual loading into the hopper and cleaning ● Do not attempt to free stuck bins, contact the depot and then run cycle as normal and dispose of bin if practical. ● Ensure area is clear of pedestrians or other workers before lifting.
