• Only lift items within your personal capabilities • Test load before lifting. Ensure is balanced and manageable for carrying • Use mechanical aids where possible i.e. sack trucks/Wheelie bins/Pallet trucks. • Identify hazardous materials – STOP! Report immediately and seek advice from management. Do not put yourself at risk. • If removing WEEE Waste (Waste Electrical items) ensure that the correct consignment note has been competed prior to removal. If unsure – Stop! And seek advice from management. Wear appropriate gloves to protect hands. • Handle the waste items carefully, avoiding areas where sharp objects may be located. • Inspect the waste for any visible sharp objects before lifting. • Carry any sacks from the knot • Avoid direct contact with the waste, wear gloves • Check the integrity of the item before lifting. • Clean any spills immediately to prevent slips and contamination. • Wash hands thoroughly after handling any waste • Be cautious and move slowly, especially in areas with uneven, slippery surfaces • Avoid carrying items during adverse weather conditions if possible • Wear appropriate safety non-slip footwear at all times • Report all safety concerns/Near Misses & Incidents/Accidents
